Stopped here with my kids just before closing time (11 pm) on our way through to Carlsbad. Still had about 3 hours left to drive, so I wanted a bathroom break and some coffee, and some hot chocolate for the kids. These are the cleanest, prettiest, nicest-smelling bathrooms we have ever encountered on the road. We were so pleasantly surprised! The rest of the mini-mart is just as clean and pretty and well-lit. I decided to buy a sunshade for my windshield. We had some trouble with the hot chocolate machine. A couple of employees came over and helped loosen the powder mix so that my kids would get full-flavored hot chocolate. When the cashier rang up our order, he (silently) did not charge us for the coffee and two hot chocolates! Believe me, I noticed this extra kindness. If I ever drive through this way again, I will make it a point to stop here. It was a godsend on our long drive. I couldn't believe we just randomly stumbled into this oasis just before they closed.

Great variety of snack and drink options on your trips as you enter the village of Vaughn! As a Mississippi native, I was surprised to see that they even carried pickled pig feet. I really appreciated the options for flavor shots as well as gas station slushees ☺️ there’s also chicken and the classic Hunt’s pizza for food on the go. They also offer a selection of liquor if you need to pick something up in a rush.

I cannot speak on the quality of gas because I only stop for food and drinks.

The only negative I have for this place is the bathroom smell and door. It may have just been prior contacts, but it had this odd smell that needed an air freshie to make it unnoticeable or barely there. We come to this truck stop multiple times a week and always fill up on our way home. They sell trinkets and wallets and purses and what not. Today 12-21-20 i went in the sore to return a purse i purchased for my grandmother yesterday for Christmas around 2pm on 12-20-20. I just needed to exchange the purse bc i had gotten the wrong color. I explained that the young man at the register yesterday did not give me a receipt. She was VERY rude and would not help me. So now I've bought another purse in the right color and i have an unwanted extra. Kindness goes a long way and should be a requirement to work in customer service.
