I purchased a sectional in orange. It is beautiful and exactly the look I wanted. My dealings with Opulent Items were very pleasant and I believe it's Henry the owner was great to work with and tried to be as helpful as possible. I deducted a star for two reasons. One I've seen several people mention being nervous about such a large online purchase, but asking lots of questions happy with it. I am very comfortable with the process, but that led to me not asking enough questions. There are no pictures of the back of the couch. From the front the cushions lean forward to form an angled back rest. I assumed they were attached. That is not the case so they are constantly knocked over by my 2 year old (The reason I opted for leather) and have to be adjusted. Worse it floats in the middle of the room and if the cushions are not angled perfectly a white mesh backing is visible. I almost had a heart attack the day I came home after it was delivered and saw that white peaking over the back. Just sitting will expose the backing so guests see it and it belies the otherwise excellent quality for the price. Even a dyed to match mesh wouldn't have prevented all the adjusting, but at least it wouldn't be so glaring especially as this was custom made. I waited the whole summer for it and since Opulent Items offers custom adjustments this is something I certainly would have been willing to pay to address, but I had no clue it was something that might need to be addressed. I'm considering trying Velcro strips to keep them in place, but worried that will damage the finish and not work either. It's very frustrating. The second reason is the shipping company. I paid the extra $300 for white glove delivery as I had no idea when it would turn up, if my husband would be home etc. The shipping company sends an email from some obscure address that I've never actually received although they say they sent it with an approximate date. I got my updates from Opulent Items on the build just fine. I get a call one day while I'm unavailable from a man saying I'll be there with your sofa in 30 mins. When I went back and checked my voicemail there was a message from the day before, that I had yet to receive saying they would attempt delivery the next day. You would think they would get a confirmation. When I called Opulent Items they were very helpful and copied me on the email to the shipper explaining that they had not confirmed a delivery time and needed to make sure I was available before attempting delivery. They rudely responded "Tell him to check his voicemail." either unaware or uncaring that the customer was a part of the email process. A blind email from an unsaved source that was likely flagged as spam or junk and a voicemail are not confirmation. They also then did not attempt delivery again until the next week with the same day before call. At least I got it that time and my husband was able to be home. Unfortunately as I inspected the sofa I also noticed the legs are all screwed on rather poorly. My husband said they were attached by the delivery person. I feel like if I try to turn it over and fix the crooked screws I may strip them or damage the frame etc and since its level I've decided to leave well enough alone, but I won't be surprised if this eventually shortens the life of the piece. I initially thought he was a bad person because of the way he communicated with us.........But he contacted us and proved that the online ordering system had an issue and issued us a 10% refund. My husband and I paid $2600 (+tax) for a customized curved (grey and white) sofa. After we placed our order, we called and spoke with Jenny - who verified that she has our custom notes were in the system. Jenny reassured us that the sofa would be made EXACTLY as we requested it. She even read off the customized notes in the system (gray &white, etc)...10 weeks later we receive the sofa - it's all white!
I came from out-of-town to an ALL WHITE curved sofa (not the Gray and White - I requested)!!! I was livid because we spent $2600 and didn't get what we paid for!!! We advised Jenny that we received our sofa and it was made incorrectly. Jenny assured that they would get the correct sofa shipped out but we would have to wait 8 weeks. She apologizes and advised that Henry would also give us a credit toward our account - she refers us to speak with Henry.
Henry did the total opposite. He indirectly calls us liars and saying the sofa was made exactly how we requested it. He goes even further and sends a FAKE screenshot of his system - showing that the notes weren't in the system. He was very rude and didn't try to offer an assistance. We tried to log into our Opulent Items account to review our past order - Henry disabled our account!!!! Additionally, we emailed Henry asking about our account being disabled, he never replied with a response at all.
In the midst of all this, Jenny has been the only person that has apologizes on Opulent Items behalf. She again verified that the order was made incorrectly - read the customized notes we put in the system - assured us that Henry would take care of it! Instead, Henry decides not to do so because he don't want to spend the money to get the manufacturer make a new one. Jenny verified that we would shipped the correct sofa (8 week delay) and receive a credit to our account. However, Henry just took our money and still hasn't tried to resolve the issue at all. As a result of Henry's action we are forced to proceed with legal action against Opulent Items. I can't wait to see Henry in Florida for court!

Read moreAmazing experience so far with Opulent. We were looking around for a modern contemporary look sectional sofas for a while and then saw Opulent! We were nervous about spending $$$ for an online items we have never seen physically. It's risky but, it's all worth it in the end! Henry contacted us right away to provide us with detailed information of the product, pricing, specifications, etc. He sent us leather samples with different colors. I saw other reviews complaining about the material not being real leather. Henry was very specific when he spoke to us that the sofa is not all covered by real leather. So we knew what we expected. They can do all part with all real leather but the cost is much higher and Henry also gave us that option. So, no complain here on that issue. Our sofa was delivered perfectly, the color is as what we saw from the sample Henry sent us, the timeline of delivery is pretty accurate (8-10 weeks). The whole experience purchasing with Henry was fantastic and easy. The only hiccup was we live in an apartment building and the delivery truck couldn't/refused to bring the sofa upstairs due to risk/insurance purpose, which we expected because Henry warned us about this. We tried to pay him extra but the delivery guy didn't take it. Thankfully we got help from our building porter so we paid him instead. We got our sofa last week and we LOVE it!!
