Oh my goodness. I had the most remarkable visit. One that I think about quite often. To begin, my family and I pulled in a few minutes after closing. There was a very nice lady outside at the entrance removing the open sign. We rolled down the window and asked if we could just quickly run in and grab some orange juice. She was super polite and friendly! She told us we could drive on up and knock on the door and we'd be let inside. We felt terrible about putting them out but she was so super friendly, so rare to find these days. The drive up was beautiful, so clean and well taken care of, their property. We knocked on the door and were greeted by the owner. The sweetest older man. I cannot say enough kind things about him. He led us in, the hospitality just absolutely pouring from his soul. Felt like we were back in the 80s, kinder times. Felt like family the moment we walked through the door. Immediately, the owner put his hand on our shoulders and insisted on a tour! He showed us family photos, his new walk in coolers, the juicing room. Took us in the back and explained the machinery and history of his land, his life. A very welcomed, appreciated, overload of information. It was incredible! His kindness, his humor, his ability to make you feel like his own family within moments of meeting him, walking into his home. This is an experience my family speaks of often, one we hold dear to our hearts. It was so interesting to learn all about the history there, his life, his family. Also, the juice? We purchased 2 orange juice jugs and 1 grapefruit. It was incredible! Delicious. We cannot wait to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI want to begin this review on a positive. The day, last week-end when we were there we found bountiful and delicious citrus to choose from and the Honey belles are delightful. The gentleman who waited on us was admittedly filling in and didn't know too much. He talked us into buying 1/4 bushel of the honey belles but did not advise us to refrigerate them. Fast forward a few days and the ones we had stored hanging in a cold room were rotten. Today we took them back and were treated like common thieves by the young man in the back of the store. He insulted my husband but did give the money back, nearly throwing it at him. When I looked around, there was not one sign in the place that told the customer that you HAVE to refrigerate. Sorry, but after the way we were treated today, no matter how delicious the citrus is I will not give them any more of my business and certainly would never recommend anyone I know to go there just so they can be treated rudely. So thanks to whoever this young man was you get a ZERO rating on customer service. Someone should teach him customer service and a little personality training. You know for 22 years I was a retail District Manager for over a hundred big box locations and would have fired any one of my employees for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreStopped in to buy small pumpkins to decorate my table for Thanksgiving. Had been all over and everyone had sold out including Schacht Groves. I relayed my dilemma to Christine. I told her I was looking for pumpkins just like the ones that she had setting around outside the store as a decoration. She immediately told me to take them, free of charge. I was shocked that she would suggest this. She walked me outside and pointed out all the little pumpkins. I insisted on paying for them but she would not allow it. Feeling a bit guilty and plenty relieved that my search for pumpkins was over , I could not just leave with the pumpkins without buying something. I purchased a gallon of orange juice. Best OJ I have ever had !!!!! Thank you Christine. You have no idea as to how much your act of kindness meant to me ! Schacht Groves is truly a jewel in Vero Beach's crown. P.S. My Ina Garten (Barefoot Contessa) inspired table scape was...
