I shop at this store regularly and have spent Thousands of dollars. I realized today that the Deli has very poor customer service and the manager herself does not honor customer loyalty. Due to my particular situation today only, I asked if I could have my jambalaya in a bowl instead of a box. Mind you, every time I go there I have no problem with their packaging. I pay and leave, no problem. Today only, I asked for a cup instead of a box. The manager herself, not the employee, refused my request and stated under no circumstances will she honor customer loyalty. No customers may have a take out bowl unless they purchase a side. I literally offered to pay extra, I said I don't mind paying for the upgrade if necessary. She again stated that entrees must be in a box, no questions asked and that she wouldn't even know how to ring up an extra charge for the upgrade. I thanked her, paid for my meal and left. Again, I never have special requests. This was literally a one-time thing. My gumbo was already in a bowl, I just wanted the same for my jambalaya. I realize now, Market Basket has acquired the corporate mentality. It's all about saving the two cents on the $11 meal I purchased than to appreciate loyal customers. I'm sure the corporation is...
Read moreI'd bet if the store flooded in a neighborhood like Port Neches or Nederland, either a new one would already be built and open months ago, or the existing one would be refurbished in a hurry. But, it seems because we're just little, old Mauriceville they sure are taking a long time to build a new one. I'm sure there are other issues I'm unaware of, but after over a year and barely breaking ground is ridicules to me. Especially when there are no other grocery stores in town. I never liked giving my business to the original one before the flood either. It was very congested, managers were not helpful, the selection was not great, and the prices seamed to be higher than just about anywhere. I wish Mauriceville could support a competitor, but for now I travel to Orange/Vidor for my grocery needs. Our little town continues to see almost zero growth in the 10 years I've lived here and this is a perfect example. I went through Hurricane Ike in Bridge City and lost everything, but our Market Basket opened in unbelievable time!!! And, that's after being renovated from many feet of saltwater. So, I've seen it happen for a town that is obviously regarded higher than Mauriceville. Again, always disappointed in...
Read moreWe stopped and spent an hour picking out groceries . When we got to the checkout we asked the clerk if the Kroger number would work , she laughed and said no . Then said we need a a loyalty card to receive the sale prices but we could not sign up until the first of October and it’s September 23rd . We could have checked out and paid the $100 difference but instead we walked out . We are from out of town and had planned to make this out stop when traveling to our lake place . The manager came over but did not know anymore than the clerk . It’s my understanding that Market Basket was bought out by Kroger I. 1963 and the card does work there . Corporate needs to do better training. The store was clean and well stocked . Just bad customer service...
