Attended the Festival of Racing on August 9th with General Admission. It was a very well organized event. Parking was packed but plentiful. And with parking guides pointing everyone to the appropriate directions, it wasnt confusing to find out where to go and park. There was live music entertainment provided by a local favorite, Grayson Torrence, who happened to make it to the Top 24 Finalists on a recent season of American Idol. She also performed God Bless America at the ceremonial presentation part of the event. She does have an angelic voice and performs very professionally. Very talented young lady for sure. For families with kids, there was also a small petting zoo area near the entertainment stage. That's always a lot of fun for little ones. I liked that there was an air conditioned portable restroom outside in addition to the porta potty buildings. I haven't been to the other racing events here but if they're anything like this very busy one, I think they're worth the time and offer great family enjoyment. This was definitely a fun experience.

Went to the soft opening and had to try the food. I couldn't believe they had donuts let alone made on site and a choice between cake or yeast. They had there special donut called rosies and it is a red velvet donut with cream cheese frosting hubby said he liked it. I must say though I was skeptical about the burger but oh man was it so good and juicy and the burger filled the bun. The french fries have a totally different seasoning to them and I wasn't sure at first but after first bite I was hooked. Going to give them 2 months and go back and see if the food is still on point. As for the rest of the gaming emporium there were the traditional new age slot machines, but the hidden gem is upstairs on the second floor bar you can play pool, foosball, and shuffleboard. So all in all a great experience and can't wait to go back even though I don't gamble lol.

Stopped by on my way home to check out the buzz. I am very glad I stopped. Great food, had a burger and fries for lunch, very flavorful. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. It's not Vegas, but you know what, for the area it's great and I loved it. The machines are fun, 2 jackpots handed out while I was there. It will be nice once the legislation gets with the times, Rosie's can probably have a table games setup done within a year once the law loosens up. Place felt super safe, also was spotless, clean restrooms, cold drinks, hot food. Can't wait to return, I only live 15 minutes away so I will be back!

This place is beautiful. If you enjoy horse betting, this place is a lot of fun too! The food is pretty good, too. My wife and I like this location way more than the Richmond one. We drop a good amount of money each time we go, and I swear, I am not trying to be salty at all about being a loser. I get that it's gambling, and you win some and lose some, but this is probably the 10th 15th time we have been here and have never won anything more than $1-300 dollars if we are lucky. We have been to other casinos and lost our shirt but had a blast. We drop about $4-800 a visit easy, not including food and drinks. ( I have seen people win, however. I am guessing we have just been incredibly unlucky. We saw someone hit on the chicken scratch game for about 3-4k. I think what made us angry was that we hit 5 bonus games on a max bet and didn't even win over a hundred dollars each time.... (Wife got both bonus games more than once on What's behind that door & I myself got both bonuses t on Spell Academy) That put a pretty bad taste in our mouth this time. Even online casinos that we have played if you hit a bonus game will give you, for example, on a $2.50 bet, you will win at least $1-200 or even more. It's just, to us, not that fun to watch a bunch of spins and not win much, especially on a max bet and watching my wife picking doors super excited just to have her mouth drop cause she won $25 bucks after 5-6 minutes of play. (Again on a max bet lol gamblers know max bet is supposed pay waaay more) We will give it another chance I'm sure just to see if it's just our luck, but if nothing changes in a few more visits, we are just going to call it quits and go to Charlestown, MGM or any other casino in the world. (We have won and had more fun on queen machines in a gas station haha) Just want to play something somewhere that at least gives us the illusion of letting us think we are winning instead of just punching us in the wallet and saying thank you, come again. 😄 🤣 I was thinking volatility until we hit on max bets but not the case it seems. Once or twice sure just bad luck, but 5 bonuses to win that is kinda insulting lol. I have heard of other people, however, who do fantastic here though tbh. So I can't be a hater but so much. It just sure as heck hasn't been us. Not even close, hahaha. Best of luck to anyone heading to play at Rosies. I hope you all win the moon! Maybe we will get lucky too next time and will 100% update and change this review!🌙 🌚 💙 Will keep you all posted on the...

The grounds are pretty. Clean and well landscaped. I went on a Saturday family day, to watch the wiener dog races. I ended up also watching some horse races.I remained track level and had a great view at the finish line. The food was reasonably priced, the alcohol was about average for most sports venues. I have never placed a horse racing bet before so I didn't know what to do, it was a bit intimidating one of the staff members in the outside tent was kind enough to help me place a simple bet by helping me with the minimum bet amounts, as that's what I wanted to do, and then breaking it down simply on what I wanted my horse pick to do (like win , place, or show). She was really patient with me and that was appreciated. She was positive and told me that "when I win" (a little positive good luck with) to come back to cash in the ticket. I ended up winning a little of my money back on the bet and she cashed me out, she was happy to see me get a little win my first time. Because of her, I would return for the horse betting. The casino is very small, compared to what I am used at California Indian casinos like Pechanga and Vegas casinos. It was clean though. The slots seemed tight but I still had fun playing the promotional $20 free play. The inside staff was not super friendly, they seemed more bothered when you ask a question. I did have one nice team member that was friendly and helpful, she took time to welcome me and walk me to player services to get a players card after I inquired about one.

Overall I would go again. It's a nice...

Customer service outside was good, inside was terrible. Overall a bit disorganized, but hopefully that aspect will get better as they get more used to having the horse races here. Most frustrating component of our trip however was the list of things that you can't bring in. Certainly this list would be easy to find on the website, or placed on a sign as you leave the parking lots. But no, this information is not provided until you are trying to walk in (would have loved for any of the three security personnel to have mentioned this as I walked past them across several parking lots.) Since Colonial Downs isn't interested in being helpful, here they are: Prohibited Items: Firearms or weapons Chairs Coolers Backpacks Umbrellas Outside Food and Drink Glass Bottles

Additionally, some signage to indicate that parents cannot bring their children through the FRONT DOOR of the place would be nice. What I find interesting is that they will not allow children on any floor of the building but the third, which also happens to have slots and a bar like the rest of the building. So...thanks for a useless rule and a waste of our time?

Have fun. If you show up literally with nothing but cash you...
