My Great Grandparents came to Washington State in 1905. The Collins family lived in Volant since the mid 1800's. Up from the Mill was the Volant Cemetery where we found numerous Collins headstones. My family has a picture of the Mill from just up the hill on the corner looking down across the railrailroad tracks. It hit me...like id been here before from that old black and white photograph. We missed the Mill being open...we got there at about 5:30pm. But for such an old building its amazingly in great shape. Really a old AmerAmerican small town.

I rating this as a mill and it was closed when we arrived. The major attractions was a complete mill turbine on display, an installed in turbine, the water wheel and the building. The turbine on display was very accessible outdoors and gives one a very good idea of how the Miller controlled the speed of the turbine. If you are curious about these devices, we'll worth the trip.

I went here for the Potterfest and it was so cute. Not only was the mill cute but so was the rest of the event. I had the absolute best time here and the mill made it feel more like home. The three whole stories is so cute and fun for all ages. There was so much stuff there for nerds and thrifty people.

I thought this was better than the average place of this type. Parking is pretty good, they have a large area set aside to park in. There are many stores with both antiques and quality hand crafted items for sale. Plus there are vendors and artisans set up along the walkway. The Volant Winery is also nearby. There were enough places that we didn't have time to see everything in one afternoon. We weren't real satisfied with the only sit down restaurant that was there. The menu was very limited and the food was just OK. I would suggest going to nearby New Wilmington and eating at a...

Stopped off with a family member to taste Butter Beer Cider. Wow was it delicious. Had such a deep butterscotch taste, like I was eating a butterscotch candy. I typically don't like sweet ciders but I made an exception for this. Is a special batch they make for Harry Potter festival. So get it while you can at the Knockin Noggin Cidery and Winery. They had Pineapple, cranberry and Blueberry in ciders and many different kinds of white and red wines. Good parking area right next door to it. Looks like a great place to spend a couple hours Wondering through shops and snacking...
