Don't let the one star fool you, if I could give a negative I would. For those of you that have had a good experience I'm so glad for you, this is my experience and mine only. I booked this trip over 2 months ago. Called and talked to the owner, discussed costs, plans, the entire thing. Tried to make deposit and was told no CC cash only. No big deal. We show up a half day early for our trip even call and ask about a place to park our motorhome. Our completely self contained motorhome. Was told we could park in a parking lot just down the road from the site. When we show up we are told we can park on site. Owner even goes through extra measures to help us park in a "parking lot". Again self contained motorhome in a parking lot, not a primitive camp site, not an RV pad, no hook ups of any sort, just a parking lot. A parking lot in Hill Billy Heaven, USA at that. The morning finally arrives, my family 6+ hours from home on our vacation canoe trip. A $120 canoe trip too boot. All good until owner throws a $40 camping fee on me. $40 isn't gonna kill us BUT the point of being taken advantage of is just too much for me. After being told he doesn't have to discuss what he charges me with to get my fat f*ing a off his property, from a DISTANCE of course. Owner may not be the sharpest tool in the shed but he was smart enough to voice his displeasure from his porch, which again speaks volumes to me as to the type of person he is. Even as I am walking off trying to leave he still is hollering profanity at me from over 60+ yards. As we are pulling out in front of other clients, he continues to harass us by waving with a smart a** smirk and of course still running his mouth. I can't say that I handled myself the best either, I let him get too me, for those that were there I apologize and hope we did not ruin your trip. I am a very easy going person, but being taken advantage of is not in my cards. I work hard for my money, if I owe you I'll pay but dont try and con me for $40 it WON'T happen. This may be a great place with great people, but it wasn't...
Read moreI love this place! Normally I tent camp but this time I treated myself to a cabin. We arrived late evening for a float in the morning. The cabins are just big enough for the beds, a little end table with lamp and an air conditioner. It's so nice to sleep in the cool and throw my sleeping bag on a platform OFF the ground. A fire pit, picnic table, and chairs, all within sight and sound of the river. Frank even started the fire for us! The bathrooms nice and close, clean and plenty of hot water in the showers. We started the day with home made biscuits, eggs and bacon, all of it cooked in the outdoor kitchen, by Frank. Then a short ride to put in. Being the only ones on the river was new for me and I loved it. Getting back to a hot shower and a nap in a cool cabin? Really awesome, lol! THEN the steak dinner with baked potato and fried green beans, delicious. Frank and Susan, regular good ole folk, warm, friendly, inviting, they make you feel comfortable. If you want modern and slick, this is not for you. If you like secluded, private, bare necessities, lots of natural beauty, peace and quiet, a sense of having a special adventure, then...
Read moreI could go on and on about this place but I found it around 2003 and we have been back at least once a year every year since. My kids have a special connection to this place and Frank and Susan are like family to us. We paddle a lot of water but this is by far our favorite spot. If you’re looking for a river party with tons of people this isn’t the place but if you like solitude and quality time with your family and friends this is the spot. Not much phone service so the kids have to talk to you it’s great! It isn’t fancy but it’s the perfect little getaway from the rat race. If you don’t wanna cook, make Frank do your cookin...
