This review is specifically towards our experience renting their Pavilion.
My husband and I got married at the Wine Valley Golf Club’s Pavilion this July. We were very excited that we were able to reserve a date since we had heard great things about this location. Unfortunately, our experience was the complete opposite. We were treated with disdain by their PGA Director of Golf and Food and Beverage Director. We were completely disappointed with their lack of adequate communication, clear transparency, and respectable professionalism. WVGC failed to provide timely communication with us through emails. We did not have the privilege of conducting majority of the questions or concerns in person, so we relied heavily on communicating through phone or email. This was especially frustrating when WVGC representatives took months to respond through email. We asked them early on to provide a menu of their drinks, which they stated they would have one early January, but we never received it. In addition, we asked them to provide an invoice of the expenses to make the necessary payments prior to the date, but we did not receive the invoice until after the wedding once charges were already made. Another thing that WVGC failed to provide was clear transparency. Since they struggled to communicate by email, we needed to have follow-up conversations with them over the phone. In one conversation, the F&B Director provided a quote for the beverages that we selected in March. When I called back in April to make the payment, she denied ever providing that quote and changed the prices. In another instance, the PGA Director had the audacity to threaten us the morning of the wedding that we were not going to be able to serve food because he still did not have the catering license. This ensued unnecessary panic and stress for the groom as he and the groomsmen frantically began calling other locations to figure out this situation. When in fact the business license from the accredited caterers was already sent earlier that week. Nowhere in their contract did it state that we needed to provide a physical copy of a catering license. In their contract it only stated, “any outside caterer must be licensed and insured.” A requirement that was met by our amazing caterers, Las Chiquillas Restaurant. Lastly, our attitude towards WVCG was tainted due to their unprofessionalism. Aside from their lack of proper communication and transparency, we did not appreciate the attitude from the F&B Director. Every time we spoke on the phone with her, she came off rude and dismissive towards us. Planning a wedding is already stressful as it is, so having some guidance and patience from her would have been greatly appreciated. Ultimately, I do want to encourage the venue and each of its staff to do some honest introspection, so they don’t repeat the incidents stated above with another client...
Read moreI'll be honest, this course exceeded my expectations! Its a new age links style course. I am a 5 handicap and heading to this course I had my doubts because of its location in the middle of wine country & rolling hills. I thought it would be another pitch & putt like a lot of courses around there but this one is like nothing else around! Its large fairways, bunkers, & greens match the large open land it sits on. It has a great mix of risk and reward and this golf course will challenge all types of golfers. Its mostly generous off the tee but the second shots are deceiving as the greens are large so you must be accurate or 3 putts can pile up quickly! The course can be very scenic at times and has holes that are full of risk and reward! The staff is friendly and they are very helpful, and the driving range/practice facility is as good as the golf course. The course has 5 sets of tees and the pace of play was good when we played. Best golf course in Washington maybe stretch, but definitely the best course in Walla Walla and you'd be hard pressed to find a better golf course outside of Seattle! Now that I think about it, its probably better than all but 2 or 3 golf courses in the state of Washington. Also for those of you that like wine its right next to two vineyards. Nothing real bad to say except for the dust that can blow in when its real windy due to the youth of a new development. All in all I have to say its about a four and a half star golf course and definitely one I'll be back to...
Read moreVery very modest club house. Open air feeling around. Greens are relatively receptive in terms of holding shots but huge and challenging where a 3 putt is common. Bunkers are inconsistent where some are mud where you need to blast a bunker shot and others are hard pan where you need to pick it off the sand, but hard to tell the difference as we didn’t take any practice swings per USGA rules. The fairway rough is very challenging and easy to lose a ball which made it not as easy. Overall reminded me of Gamble Sands but more difficult and not sure if I’d come back because of the bunkers. The practice area is super nice including a chipping/pitching section which is uncommon. Also had a ‘corkscrew’ putting green course. Staff was real friendly and accommodating an earlier tee time. From the hole by hole the wind seems quite common and also made it challenging. They had free pull carts to use, both 2 and 3 wheelers. The birds who sat on the hole markers were beautiful and made really loud sounds. The layout was well marked on each home where you just had to look for the pole of the hole markers. You can see the freeway nearby but can’t hear because of the wind. The layout is open with no trees, but does have water in play and relatively...
