Easy access yet spectacularly remote. Great place to go and get lost for a few days. I came in from Couer D'alene. At first the river is wide and slow as it flows through some sparsely populated neighborhoods settled on the river. Higher up the river starts to tumble and narrow with nice plunge pools below the riffles. Past the town of Avery is my favorite area. But it can be a challenge if you're fishing. There are plenty of turnouts but getting down to the river and making your way along it takes some dedication but it's worth it. When you're ready to leave (or when you have to..) you can just follow the same road all the way back to I-90. It turns into a dirt road for a bit but it's in good shape.
