The Wallingford Village Market fills a void that has existed in the town for as long as I’ve lived in the area—an upscale-feeling yet affordable emporium that sells a quality array of packaged wholesome food products, offers healthy prepared food options to go, and carries some beautiful and diverse gift-type items from local producers and artists. During my first visit I explored the local product section at the front of the store and picked out a gift, wandered into the bulk item area for some legumes and spices, grabbed a bag of my favorite Yoder Farm carrots from the refrigerated produce shelves, and ladled out myself some steaming Vegan Maple Chili from the ‘deli’ section in back (where they also had some delicious-looking pre-made paninis that they throw on their panini press to go). In addition, there’s a small nook that boasts shelves of useful, environmentally friendly household items. I was pleasantly surprised to find that some items (such as the red lentils in the bulk section) were more competitively priced than in Rutland. Employees were extremely friendly and helpful and certainly added to the market’s overall positive ambiance. Read moreMy wife and are former service industry workers, We stopped in for the first time last night after looking up places offering grab and go items. As a former chef I have to point out how clean, beautiful, and functional the kitchen and front of house is. The owner Monica, and daughter were very kind, and very pleasant to converse with. For food we had, Ham amd Swiss on chibatta with potato salad and coleslaw with a maple turkey sandwich. I can honestly say the meal was delicious and felt 100% healthy for the body.
We highly recommend stopping in. I bieve that the cuisine at Wallingford village market is proof, that food can be healthy and taste delicious. Personally cant wait to try the street corn next and the falafels.

Read moreWe had the privilege of being invited to do a tasting at the WVM on their 1-year anniversary, and it was fantastic. If you are a small local VT business and looking for another small local VT business to collaborate with, you’d be hard pressed to find a better spot. Almost every person we spoke to was from a house we could see from the front patio, or just beyond and up one of the nearby roads. This is clearly a market that has captured its local audience, and the locals have responded with utmost loyalty. Thank you Monica and Caitlin for supporting another small local company like our own. It is such a pleasure to do business with you.
