Rode on my Harley, very nice.
For those planning a trip on 2 wheels: as of late Sept. 2021 the east side is paved all the way up, with only a small stretch of fairly rough pavement toward the base.
On the west side, the steepest top section is paved, then it goes to gravel for a good chunk of moderately steep road.
I had no problem going over westbound on a '99 FXDX with new tires, I just geared down and took it slow on the gravel descent. Ideally I probably would go the other way; I'd rather go uphill on gravel than down.
One note: it was thoroughly dry when I rode the gap, in the mud/rain I probably would be less enthused...
Read moreThis is a solid ADV motorcycle road with quite a few twisties and switchbacks in often not entirely paved sections of the route (very Vermont, where everything is in the permanent state of getting fixed, maybe soon ish, maybe never.) Be ready to ride downhill in the 1st gear - a lot. Not recommended for Harleys or two-up. Quite scenic and connects to Rt 100 and Rt 116, both easy casual picturesque...
