Pickaway County Dog Shelter — Local services in Washington Township

Deputy Rhoads was very disappointing and appears greatly unmotivated. I called and complained about a neighbor's dog coming WELL into our yard, growling and snarling to the point I had to retreat. Deputy Rhoads asked if I had photos. I sent her one while on the phone. She then requested the security camera footage be sent to her phone as well and stated that she would need to do an in person report. Later that night I sent her the security footage and never received a response. Saturday rolls around and nearly an hour after our appointment time I text her. No response. I call the cell number and no answer. I call the dog warden's main phone and I am transferred to her. Deputy Rhodes says they have been busy this morning and it slipped her mind. Moreover she states she no longer needs to come out because she gave the owner a verbal warning over the phone that same day. Deputy Rhoads admitted she never watched the video I sent her that SHE requested. Obviously her warning did nothing because the dog was back in our yard a day later. Moreover, Deputy Rhoads states she would give her an in person citation which she promised on the initial call when I said I had footage of the dog coming into the yard when I had to retreat. I RECORED MY CONVERSATION WITH DEPUTY RHOADS AND STRONGLY ENCOURAGE ANYONE ELSE MAKING A REPORT TO DO THE SAME. Deputy Rhoads is inconsistent with her promises. Today she states she "will be out tomorrow" to give the owner a citation. The dog warden's office is not open on Sunday. She followed up saying there really isn't much they can do because Ohio is very lax on laws...

I call these people almost daily for weeks now never get a return call call during regular hours no one answers the phone i have several stray / non licensed dogs running around my neighborhood there are 3 mean dogs that fight and bark and carry on all day and all hours of the night have called to report loose and fighting dogs daily they come onto my fenced in proptery and attack my dog and have tried to get to my chickens several times the so called dog warden never answers the phone and when me and my neighbors call the sherrif nothing ever is done about the dog problem all i ask is for some one to do their job i called 3 times today 5/24/16 no answer no return calls nothing what are we as tax...

Staff is a complete joke. As others have noted, staff and "volunteers" just sit in the front office and screw around when they could be cleaning cages and bathing dogs. If you can get a hold of him, the dog warden will only come out during shelter hours and gets off at 4pm. If you can't get a hold of a dog warden, call the Pickaway County Sheriff and have them transfer you to them.

The front office is clean, but the staff need a better manager. There's plenty of work to do instead of just sitting around talking about...
