Enough can not be said about our experience at Olalla Vineyard, I stumbled upon this gem while searching for an event to take my girlfriend to for her birthday. We attended a private dinner in the vineyard prepared by Chef Laura. Once we arrived we were greeted by owners Stuart and Mary Ellen and offered wine, they spoke pationatly about their vineyard and processes of learning how to create amazing wine. While we were enjoying our tour of their vineyard we were greeted several times by a very nice gentleman who served hors d'oeuvres prepaired by Chef Laura. Once our tour was complete we walked over to another vineyard where we were seated for dinner, the table was decorated beautify and had a spectacular view of the vineyard as well as a partial view of the puget sound water front. The meal which was prepared for us was nothing short of perfect, the wine pairings flowed seamlessly with the marvelous food. The wine poured freely as we got lost in conversation with our hosts Stuart and Mary Ellen and other guests that had joined us during the evening. Overall we left Olalla Vineyard feeling relaxed and amazed at the experience we had and are already making plans to attend another dinner, hopefully with friends and family next time. Thank you for showing my girlfriend and I an...
Read moreWe truly love this place. We've been members since shortly after we moved to the area and found them. Not only are Mary Ellen, Cinny, and the rest of the staff truly a pleasure to talk with, but their wines are absolutely top notch!
This is a great place set on nice acreage filled with grass, trees, and old growth vines. The winery is set in a charming building, where you will eventually end up sitting outside among the vineyard, or upstairs where there is plenty of space to talk, taste the wine, and nibble on the several offerings of cheese, crackers, salami, olives, and more. If you go outside on the deck, you can get a view of the water overlooking the vineyards. Fantastic place for a summer afternoon.
Their wines are great and affordable. My wife was not a white wine person, however I truly believe that Mary Ellen's Viognier and Pinot Gris helped with her conversion. On the red side, the Merlot and Grenache are always superb, although you can't really go wrong with any of their selections.
Give them a try, you won't be...
Read moreWhile the setting was beautiful, and the person that took our order was kind, we were disappointed in the skimpy pours and "picnic basket" snack.
$30 for 8 ounces of wine is a bit over priced. The "picnic basket" of snacks consisted of a To Go Container with a stick of salami, 2 packages of cheese and a package of crackers. We were given 1 plastic knife to cut the salami and cheeses with, some paper plates and 1 napkin. I was envisioning a true basket with perhaps a small cutting board, cheese knife, maybe some olives or nuts, especially for $26.99. The presentation of the snacks could have been nicer.
We bused our own table, and when we went to leave, the area for placing your empty glasses was full.
I really wanted to like this establishment. I loved the location and the view. I understand not allowing people to bring in their own food since snack options available, but it would be nice if the presentation...
