Short hike but the name means something. It's pretty much straight up. Bugs weren't as much of an issue as nearby places thankfully. View is very rewarding for such a short distance. I saw kids we brought dogs so anyone can really do it if your calves and...

Great quick little hike with nice views of the surrounding lakes. There's also a nice pile of large boulders that form a "bear cave" that can be a fun...

Elevation: ~1,060 ft (some sources list ~1,104 ft) above sea level. Location: In Oxford County, in the town of Waterford, adjacent to Keoka Lake. Trail Access: The main trail is the Daniel Brown Trail, which starts off Plummer Hill Road, just uphill from the Waterford Congregational Church. Trail length: The trail is generally reported as ~1.2 miles round-trip. Elevation gain: ~577 ft of ascent. Difficulty: Moderate. It has some steep segments, especially early on. Best times / access: The trail is open year-round. Dogs are allowed. Views & highlights: From the summit you can see Keoka Lake and in clear conditions, surrounding lakes and peaks (e.g. Pleasant Mountain). There’s a notable glacial erratic called “The Bear Cave” near the summit area — a large boulder with a deep cleft/small cave-like features. Trailhead parking: The spot is modest — a small dirt pull‑out off Plummer Hill Road, with room for maybe 4–5 cars. If that’s full, you may park at the church and walk to the trailhead. There is a rumored origin of the name: a story (perhaps apocryphal) that it comes from a phrase “tire ’um out,” as in the climb is tiring. After the open ledge near the summit (~0.6 miles in), the public trail ends. Continuing further crosses into private property. Because parts are steep and exposed, in wet or icy conditions be careful, possibly bring traction devices or hiking poles. One last thing, enjoy and have fun!!! #hikingadventures #maine #newengland #trail #fypシ

Great short hike with views of Keoka Lake and beyond. Pleasant Mountain visible also. Mostly wooded summit but ledges offer magnificent views for a lunch spot.
