I remembered why I don't come to Eagle often. The racing is fine, with it being on a very racy 1/3 mile high banked oval that can provide great racing, no matter the class. Sport Compacts, Modifieds, or the 305 Sprints.
However, the popularity of the track with Lincoln residents and the reluctance to expand spectator amenities leaves you waiting in line A LOT if you are wanting food, beer, drinks, or anything similar. Plus, there are 3-4 different stands for different things all in the same area near where the main entrance is, which can clog traffic up pretty bad. Lots of people just stand around in the concourse either waiting in line or just talking with people. It gets really bad. It's to the point where it isn't safe, especially with kids running around or if there is an emergency and there is no where to go. If you are wanting to get food, expect to wait 20 minutes to get what you want. That is just too long compared to other nearby tracks such as I-80 and Junction Motor Speedway. The whole concourse needs a redesign, with spread out food stands not on the main pathway to ease the foot traffic a bit.
If you are coming into town and want to go see a race nearby, go to I-80, Beatrice, or McCool Junction before you come here, until the owner redesigns spectator amenities to fit the thousands of people that show up to weekly shows, let alone the bigger shows such as the 305 Sprintsaver Nationals that happen every year.
If you take all of the issues away, it's a perfectly fine track, but you can find similar racing elsewhere with better experiences. Sorry, I want to love Eagle, but it isn't good...
Read moreThe place puts on a pretty good show, really good car counts, my only issue with the racing itself is the dip in the middle of Turn 1. Cars always seem to go around it and if someone goes thru the dip, it upsets the car where they either get out of shape or wreck. The corner needs to be reprofiled to get it out or fill the dip in.
In terms of fan amenities, there needs to be a water/pop only line so you don't have to wait in food lines for a while just for something to drink. Lastly, with the public WiFi, it requires you to log in via Facebook to use the connection, and it doesn't work 100% for some reason. I understand that it binds a name to your phone so they can track down if you do something illegal or what not, but there should be a better way to do that like with a phone number and confirmation code.
I really enjoy the place as it's been a Lincoln staple for years and years, but I personally have a better experience at I-80 Speedway and other similar tracks. Hate to see this place go, lots of people love it, myself included. The people are working hard here to make the experience better, and I...
