Balsam Antique Mall — Local services in Waynesville

YESTERDAY WAS THE SECOND AND LAST TIME I WILL EVER VISIT BALSAM ANTIQUE MALL. THE ELDERLY MAN AND WOMEN WHO HALF HEARTLY WELCOMES YOU TO THE STORE DO NOT GIVE YOU THAT WARM AND WELCOMING FEELING. THEIR PRICES ARE WAY TOO HIGH FOR WHAT THEY CONSIDER "ANTIQUE". THEY WENT SO FAR AS TO NOT CONSIDER MY OFFER FOR TWO TEA TINS, SINCE I OFFERED THEM $2.00 LESS THAN THE ASKING PRICE. THERE REASONING: THEY DO NOT GIVE DISCOUNTS FOR ITEMS $25.00 OR LESS, HOWEVER MY ITEMS TOTALED $32.00 BEFORE TAX. THIS TYPE OF CLOSE MINDED THINKING CONTRIBUTES TO MANY STORES GOING OUT...

Did purchase a few things and would have purchased more but did not have enough CASH with me (traveling) nor a check. All the "sales" in booth's were 25% off...cash or check only, so I just bypassed those booths. What I did purchase came from booths with no sales period. Couple working check out seemed flustered/ frustrated and just plain grumpy. Saying "thank you" goes a long way. Don't think I will make another trip to Balsam...

The elderly woman at the front counter is a very poor choice for the face of the business. Not at all welcoming. No smile, no greeting, no anything. She looked perturbed. I watched as she checked out a customer who was doing her best to make small talk with her to no avail. I drove over a half an hour to shop here...my poor choice.
