The Atlantic Pines Golf Club at Old Marsh is now open and better than before. Within the Wells/Kennebunk area, golf is limited to 2 highly overpriced golf courses that are traditional, unassuming and not very challenging. The Atlantic Pines Golf Club is different. It’s beautiful, and challenging with plenty of water and marshes. Playing the course is far from routine as it has target landing areas, beautiful distant views, and some holes with 90 degree dog legs. Most of all, it’s fairly priced without over the top greens fees. As I’m from Philly, Maine has some of the most expensive greens fees (must be the short season). I had the pleasure of being checked in by Jack, a family member of the new owners. He explained the course has change hands and is now owned by his family who have deep roots locally. He sounded excited to bring the course to its full prime potential and to serve the local community. We saw vast amounts of crew working on improving the golf course and club house. I definitely believe they will hit it out of the park. As the golf course is in great condition now, I can only expect this golf course will become the premier club in the Wells / Kennebunk area. Definitely give the course a try and ask for Jack. It’s a great story. You won’t be...
Read moreWith all of the good reviews we were shocked to even see let alone taste the food served during a recent wedding reception. The following is the whole truth. Our meal was supposed to be baked haddock. First it was supposed to have a crumb topping. It didn’t. It was actually cold as well. The rice pilaf was over cooked white rice that was a big glob in the serving bowl. The green bean almandine was undercooked from being previously frozen. One of the attendants asked how the food was and I let her know it was inedible. As she went to the other guests, they all complained that the food was horrible. The chicken parm was nothing more than a chicken finger with sauce. There was supposed to be a pasta as well. Not. The chicken was cold as well. The veggie lasagna was burned on top. A guest asked the server if she could have the green beans instead of asparagus and the server declined the request. Whoever the chef is, I believe a first year culinary student could beat. The general managers attitude was oh well. Oh well, because this was such a disappointment somebody should be held accountable. By the way the chairs in the venue were so loose some people were afraid they were going...
Read moreI am writing to take issue with the negative feedback that Mr. Christopher Harding left a couple of weeks ago. To give a little perspective, this was Mr. Harding‘s one and only Google review.
I too have been playing Old Marsh for the last couple of decades and his review couldn’t be further from reality. I have been a member here for the last three years and play it at least 3 times per week. Old Marsh has had significant improvement over the last season. That said, we have had a significant dry spell and I would challenge any golfer to find any golf course in Maine/New Hampshire that has not suffered with their fairways being burnt out in areas with the lack of water and rain.
From the owner, to the Pro, the Superintendent & his entire maintenance crew, & all the staff at Old Marsh, you all do an amazing job keeping our course in incredible condition & making a difference ever day!
For those checking out Old Marsh reviews, I sincerely hope that you give ZERO CREDIT to Mr. Christopher Harding’s 1 AND ONLY review and give Old Marsh a try…you will not be disappointed with the layout, the conditions & most importantly how friendly the staff is here...
