These guys offer the best service in the valley, hands down. When our AC recently went down, we finally called them after attempting to have two other companies come and fix the problem. Neither of the other companies took the time to figure out what was really wrong (one simply replaced the air filter, for a cool $59, as if I couldn't have done that myself for 1/10th the cost), and every one else in town was 3 weeks out for a service call. We called the guys at Mountain Valley and they showed up the next day and had diagnosed the problem within minutes. They discovered the original installation (Mr Cool the installer) was done with poor quality and our system (barely over 1-year old) already had a leak and was empty. We had originally tried to get Mr Cool to fix the problem, but as our unit was just over 1-year old they told us the warranty had expired (apparently 1.2 years is too long of a time to expect a newly installed AC to work, from their perspective). Mountain valley saved us a lot of hassle, they were a pleasure to do business with and really know their stuff. What's more, their work is warrantied for 5 years. Save yourself the huge headache of dealing with these other jokesters that won't give you a long term guarantee on their work (likely because they know their sloppy work won't last), and get yourself the peace of mind that comes with a quality AC service company, that backs up their service with a legitimate guarantee. Needless to say we will be using them for all our heating and AC services from...
Read moreI would not recommend this company. I scheduled an A/C service appointment and was told there would be an $85 service fee, plus the cost of coolant. I clearly explained up front that we have a known internal leak (as we've been told in the past), and that we just needed the coolant refilled—something we've done each year because the repair is too expensive.
The technician still insisted on "checking for the leak," and later confirmed exactly what I had already told him. When I received the bill, I was shocked to see extra charges for labor (including drive time) and other fees that were never disclosed to me. The final amount was significantly higher than I had agreed to.
When I called to address the issue, the owner told me the $85 fee was actually to pay for Google marketing, not just a service call, and that the extra labor charge was added so he could afford to pay his employee. He told me that this marketing fee charge that was on the invoice as "service call" was charged to all first time customers but a returning customer wouldn't have the fee because they would already have his information and wouldn't have used google. None of this was communicated beforehand. He refused to adjust the bill and said there was "nothing he could do."
If I had known about these hidden fees and the way they calculate charges, I never would have hired this company. Be very cautious—get everything in writing first, or better yet, find a more transparent...
Read moreI would not recommend this company. This is now the 2nd time I have been burned by this company. The first time was last year when we had a heater problem and called Mt. Valley on the recommendation of our builder. They missed 3 appointments that they setup with us. Terrible waste of time. They put in a new thermostat. When we received the bill, they charged us $75 labor and $270 for the thermostat. I looked up this thermostat on line and found the IDENTICAL thermostat for $80 at WalMart! After contacting Mt. Valley they reduced the cost because they had charged me for the wrong thermostat. They charged me $210 and stated this was their markup and that it included a warranty that they stand behind. So I paid, believing they would be good if we had any problems. This year, we found the thermostat was not working correctly. I wrote them an email describing the problem. They sent a tech out and he pushed and held a button to "fix" it. He then handed me a bill for $80. I told him I thought this was under warranty. He said no it was "user error". I live 2.2 miles from them and it took him less than 15 minutes to fix it. I asked him if he thought that was a fair price and he got upset and left.
I wish I had read the other reviews of this company prior to calling them. 2.4 stars should have been a warning...
