Fareway Meat and Grocery — Local services in West Des Moines

I want to give WAY MORE stars to the meat department and the gentleman working behind the counter. They deserve MOST all of the recognition due to the fact that not one, but all of them acknowledged me every time I came down an aisle. All of them at one point checked to see if I was ready to pick some items. And one gentleman who I can't remember his name so kindly and patiently helped me choose sides by letting me sample a few that I have never heard of. Then he got my sides of choice together and we picked out some deli meat and made it an enjoyable adventure. Great personality....love people with good personalities and who are friendly. BUT I want to give WAY LESS stars for the very young little girl who followed me throughout the store but never asked me if I needed anything. She literally was right behind me in every aisle and when I stopped and looked at her she would pretend to be working. Then after I self checked out the lady watching the registers asked if I needed help out to my car. I jokingly said no thank you...as it's exercise for me. Ha ha. Then I proceeded to walk out of the store and the lady told me I couldn't, that someone was gonna take my bags out for me. I again said no thank you and that I had a dog in my car. She took my cart and a young kid pushed it outside the door. I told him to stop, I took my bags out of the cart, and I left. I do not deserve to feel stalked when shopping nor told I can't take my bags to my car myself. ONE MORE KUDOS TO THE MEAT...

I had the pleasure of working with Bob, ine of the butchers at this Fareway, who truly went above and beyond to make my Football Friday gathering a success. Bob recommended a thin-cut smoked beef and farmer's cheese, both of which I had never tried before, and they made exceptional mini panini sandwiches that were a total hit with my guests! His expertise and recommendations were spot on. Employees like Bob are the reason I keep coming back to Fareway and why I recommend it to my friends and colleagues. Outstanding service and quality products. Thank you Bob, we'll be back to...

It said it was open, but when we got there, we found it was closed. In order to get to this store, I rode a bicycle for 30 minutes, in 40-degree weather, with the lights on inside and the door. There was another car parked there and I'm sure there were employees inside, but the door was locked and I waited there...
