Customer service at Weis #138 needs to be improved. I was there on 9/1/2023 in the cashier check out line. There was 5 of us in line with filled grocery carts. Only 1 cashier opened. She was a senior citizen with a handicap. She was very polite, respectful and nice. There were 2 employees at the self checkouts and a couple other employees just standing around with their arms folded. There was only 3 customers there with not that many groceries. And the manager was standing at the other end doing nothing. I asked the lady doing the monitoring why can’t you open the other cashier line. She said they were the monitors of the self check out. And she would check me out there. I told her I prefer to go to a cashier who is a person. I was there at 4:40 she told me to wait till 5:00 and there will be a second cashier on. What a smart answer to someone who was in customer service for 40 years. It’s funny the 2 ladies behind me felt the same way. When the manager walked by I asked him why don’t they open another cashier. He mumbled something and then said they were short handed. My question is why have the self check out if you need monitors there to make sure no one is stealing and the machines don’t work right. Why wouldn’t you just open another with a cashier who is a person. I always thought it is the manager’s job to help pick up the slack. Guess I am wrong or he is just down right lazy. And the lady who said that to me needs a customer service training program. We’ll me and the other 2 ladies decided we can spend our time doing something else instead of waiting in a grocery line. Like going to another grocery store for now on. So that store just lost 3 customers. And to top it off the senior citizen employee with the handicap couldn’t even get a relief person to come while she went to the bathroom. Maybe the manager should of helped her out. This is elderly abuse and against the labor laws to do this. She kepted her mouth shut and never complained. She should be employee of the year with a big raise in...
Read moreI've shopped here a few times and seen some questionable things occasionally.
Today, though, was the worst. It started with the fruit, we picked up some strawberries or raspberries, I tried to pick the better one, who doesn't, but most of each had visible mold or spft spots. I thought I picked a decent pack of raspberries, but later found out I was duped. Everything under the sticker was rotted, and it was the final push to write this review.
Went over to the fancy cheese section, while there were 2 packs of Prosciutto wrapped mozzarella that were clearly bad, the cheese looked slimy, and the ham was greenish and baby poop brown.
Continued on to the meats. Most of the beef on the shelf was bad, and not just like a little. Some had turned that grey death color but still had good expiration dates on the package. There was a customer service guy who was walking the area. He looked at some of the same meats and just walked off, didn't remove it, or go get a deli person. Just meandered on to another part of the store.
This was not the first time I had seen questionable meats there either. About a month ago, there was some questionable chicken. I regret not taking photos.
I suggested to my girlfriend not to shop here any longer. She said Stauffer's and Giant in Mt Joy is about the same distance from her house and that she will just start...
Read moreI love this Weis. My family and I have been going here for regular grocery shopping ever since we moved here in 2016. Now that I work part time I usually go here with my daughter about once a week during a weekday morning. Everyone here is wonderful EXCEPT a particular cashier her name tag says Deb. I had her once when she first started I think and she was horrible- rude, no pleasantries, no customer service. (Not that I expect too much from just a checkout interaction but still.) So I avoid her line whenever I can. I had her again today because it had been some months later and she was still horrible. No greeting, just shouted at me for putting 2 “six packs” of soda on the belt. My daughter was trying to say hi to her multiple times and she ignored her every time. As she was bagging she didn’t give me any time to try and get my groceries and kept spinning the bag holder. Then barked at me for my rewards card. Just awful. I have had the other older women working in the mornings and the rest are so sweet and pleasant...
