A beautiful setting and very hospitality staff, but menu lacks diversity and food quality and portions not up to par for big city prices. We had to send back 2 dishes including a $26 chicken plate that could not of had more than 1 oz of chicken. The manger came over and addressed it quickly acknowledging the portion as a mistake. Our their dish was ice cold (pork). Sadly, as this place has grown it seems to have lost a bit of its charm. The old barn and the adjoining, recently improved, outside terrace are really special, but the attempts to make this upscale has really changed the way we view the restaurant. The dinner menu is small serving tiny courses and will run you about $40 per person (without drinks, dessert, or coffee). Our recent dinner experiences have been mediocre at best and at $150 per couple that's a deal breaker. Unfortunately, entrées only for dinner, so having a burger or chicken sandwich is not an option. This is bad because we often have friends visit who would love to see the property, but don't want to drop $200+ for their teenagers and they to have dinner. Too bad.
Lunch used to be served outside from a window and the pork and burgers were great, but with the recent changes there's only table service and our two sandwiches and a split salad ran nearly $50 with tip. BYOB and that's a pricey burger. As mentioned, the property is beautiful, but I just don't feel like there's much value here once everything...
Read moreAfter brunch today (OK), my wife and I purchased a ribeye steak for dinner. The steak, with bone, weighed 2.25 pounds and cost about $50. I broiled the steak, let it sit a bit, and served it medium rare, leaning towards rare. In short, the worst steak - grass fed or otherwise - I have ever had in that price range. The meat was poorly marbled, even by grass fed beef standards. The taste was fair at best. What set this steak apart was the texture; easily the toughest - without question - ribeye steak I have ever had. My wife and I had trouble cutting it with serrated steak knives. My wife could not, literally, chew through it, chew it enough to swallow. Overall, overpriced, lousy taste, poorly marbled, unfathomably tough. I will never by any beef of any kind from Wyebrook again, and, if I ever go back for a meal, will never order beef from the menu. The Wyebrook people should be ashamed of themselves for charging premium prices for a piece of lousy,...
Read moreI wish I could give them zero stars! Called a week before Thanksgiving and reserved a boneless prime rib roast. Went the day before Thanksgiving to pick it up, we were told the order was overlooked and there was no prime rib for us. We were offered an item from the butcher shop free of charge, none of which were nowhere near what I would serve for Thanksgiving. The meat on display was a sad affair. Went to Wegman's and got a dry aged prime rib, which was spectacular! In the end, things worked out but I would recommend that everyone should stay away from Wyebrook Farms for their butcher needs. They had my phone number; the hostess showed me the paperwork but did not provide any reason for why we were not called. Unbelievably unprofessional. I don't know how they justify their existence. I also wonder how their restaurant can stay in business if your meat choices are limited.
