This place was so great as Cinemagic, but since it became Apple, it's such a joke now. Most of the food is still gone, the place is falling apart in some areas, it's filthy, and every single time I come here, I have to tell them basic theater stuff they haven't done. "Movie's playing and there's no picture" "You still have the curtain down blocking the picture" "Audio is imperceptibly quiet" etc etc. The staff are all just busy on their cell phones, no one cares. I tried getting a ticket for a film today, and the girl (whom might as well be whispering she was so incredibly quiet) told me they aren't playing that film. I literally had to point to it being on the SCREEN and she just was like "oh". Is this who we're hiring? The giant poster and title aren't enough? It was literally the very first film listed. Staff are beyond inattentive.
They also LIE about seats being taken, pushing forced scarcity and driving you to panic buy tickets when in actuality no one else is in the theater. Their excuse? "Those seats are broken". Indeed many seats ARE BROKEN. And have been FOR YEARS, so why not fix them? For the exact reason I just listed.
The ceiling is now falling apart, as is the rest of the building, and you now have the sound of water dripping in when it rains.
Damaged walls, broken sinks, broken soap dispensers, broken seats, they opened a bar for like one day and then just never opened it again, took out the entire arcade to just stuff all kinds of junk mechanical parts into it and put a cheap rope in front instead of at minimum just putting a curtain in front of it, no let's just continue to have the place look like junk and abandoned.
If I owned this theater, I would be humiliated.
I never have these issues if I go to like Smitty's or Flagship. JUST Apple Cinemas. I'm done coming here. Loved this place since 2006, now it's just a shell of it's former self. So sick of it. Sick of the rude, inattentive staff. Sick of constant technical issues because they don't bother making sure the film is running/displaying correctly, sick of the lack of concessions beyond popcorn and some candy being it, sick of the filthy conditions. I'll go elsewhere from now on. And again, I literally only see these issues at Apple.
EDIT: I like how you guys artificially inflate your reviews with all these nameless 5 star ratings with NO ACTUAL REVIEW....
Read moreThe seats are very comfortable and the theater looks very nice. I really can’t stand the self-service stations. If everything is self-service than the few people you hire should actually do some cleaning and eagerly answer questions. Mostly because the staff is unhelpful and the stations (the popcorn and the drink stations). were a gigantic mess. Two were out of order. The popcorn was stacked so high you couldn’t even get your bucket under the dispenser without making even more of a mess. You cannot fill the jumbo bucket to the top instead there is an inch left below the rim. There is just not enough space between the top and the bottom. After the movie I went to check to see if they cleaned up the mess, uh they had two hours to do something about it. I patiently waited to take my photos as I watched someone pour at least an inch of butter over their popcorn. I mean it had to be more like cereal. I seriously wondered if they planned to drink it when they finished eating the soggy popcorn.
The only person I saw actually cleaning was an older black man he came in right after the movie. The rest of the younger staff were too busy talking amongst themselves, and their friends that came to see movies. Talking to your friends takes a lot of time. Who has time to clean, and tell people what theater their movie is in when it’s not printed on your ticket.
No one actually checked to see if I even had a ticket, no one was paying attention. No one was even watching whether or not if I had just purchased a bucket or cup to put my popcorn and drink in. I guess self-service could me walk right in and help yourself why bother even paying for the movie, the popcorn or the drink. Even the candy is on an open shelf you could even swipe one of those right off that open shelf. No one seems to care, after all it’s all self-service and you’re on your own. I should also mention that the lobby was nearly empty both times I was in it. Before the movie and after the movie. Void of not only customers...
Read moreCinemagic in Westbrook is my go to theater in the Portland area. It has its own parking lot, which you would think is a given for a movie theater (The theater in downtown Portland does not have its own lot. There is a garage next door which the theater will validate the parking, but you still end up having to pay something to park). There is no IMAX at this location, but they do offer some movies in 3D. I always buy my ticket at the self serve ticket KIOSK. This way you don't have to wait in line to buy a ticket and deal with the clerk.
The staff do a good job at keeping the showrooms clean. I've never gone into a theater and seen trash on the floor or on the chairs pre-movie. The bathrooms always seem fine, they are your typical public bathroom stalls. There are plenty of them, you'll never have to wait to use the bathroom.
The concessions are your typical movie theater foods (popcorn, candy, soda, nachos, hot dogs). There is a dippin dots ice cream vending machine in the hall way. I actually bought the dippin dots once, it comes out in a little packet and its basically a frozen mush at the bottom of the packet. Definitely not worth the $4 or whatever it costs! Are the concessions wicked expensive? Yes. Do I still want a giant tub of buttery popcorn and giant soda to munch on during...
