I do enjoy playing here, but just know you do get what you pay for. It's a convenient track at a somewhat decent price if you live in the area. It's also a great place for beginner golfers who are making the leap to playing an actual round of golf. The staff has always been solid until today. I hit a bad first shot of the tee, so I dropped a provisional ball. I was getting ready to re hit when I heard " One ball only!" from a grounds crew staff member. I thought it was just background noise from the practice green area. Just before I hit my provisional, a loud whistle rings out followed by "One ball only!" Do not whistle at me as if I'm a dog. Show some damn respect. I've been playing golf for over 30 years and have never been confronted this way at any golf establishment. So, from now on I will be playing 2 balls on every hole just for you Mr. grounds keeper. For those who are playing behind me, don't worry, I will never make you wait on me. I actually know the rules and the etiquette. If I see players behind me I will be out of the way quickly. I would give Stoney Creek a 4.5 star on every other day. Just not today. For the golfers who give Stoney Creekside a try for the first time, I believe you won't be disappointed for the price, as long as you don't cross paths with Mr....
Read moreIf you are in search of a shorter, laid back, exec 9 experience with super friendly staff, this may be for you. They won't match you up with folks if you don't want to. With the creek/canals crisscrossing, there are some challenges. The par 4s may not allow you to hit driver if you have average plus distance. Don't go for the green on #1 off the tee unless it is dead quiet, plus water lurks just past the green. The grass/fairways are in good shape this winter. It can melt out before other courses nearby. The driving range is a bit short, so 250 is likely too long. Senior rates are 55+, plus the replay rate is a deal. This was probably a farm field previously, so it's not for picky folks. They have a punch card for frequent visitors, so you get a free weekday rounds after 6 rounds, nice! Similar deal with range buckets.
They also have a short 3 hole-ish wedge circuit just past their practice putting green. That's nice to try to get your short game tuned a bit.
Oh yeah, someone posted a question about renting clubs. Their website said they rent...

The course was great, but some old grumpy people behind us were acting like they were about to die if we didn't move along which was extremely disappointing as it was my first time ever learning to play, it totally ruined the vibe. We weren't even taking long. Outside of the staff and an extremely polite and accommodating gentleman who was cruising around with his granddaughter who was super helpful and accommodating, I had fun. The polite gent brought us some water and kept checking to see if we were okay. We ended up skipping 2 holes so that the old miserable people behind us didn't have a privileged heart attack or stroke out. I can only imagine how upset hearing our laughter and sounding happy about life must have hurt them deeply considering the aggressive tones and yells we got to...
