New for 2024 season, the main parking lot has been repaved and parking spaces have been reconfigured. Much easier to drive around parking area with arrows and painted lines for directional. Note: Those many Handicap parking spaces against the dunes when you first come into the parking area are no longer there. They are now part of the travel lanes to exit the parking lot. No lines or waiting to get into parking lot. Park first then walk to a pay station and purchase or pay your parking fee. Parking is still $14 day pass Mass resident. Non-Resident Day Pass $40 (Wow that's a lot, not very welcoming for RI Non-Residents.) Season Pass $60 Mass Resident thru the Yodel app on your phone or on the DCR website which does link you to Yodel. They have up to 6 pay stations throughout the parking lot. One pair is in the part of the parking lot near reed road, a second set is near the restrooms, then there is another set in the farthest section in the parking area. It also looks like they may have prepped another area close to the restrooms area. They still have the friendly DCR staff to assist if needed. For those who arrive late when this parking lot is full and they direct cars to the second large parking lot down the street, that parking lot is unchanged. It is still the same and not repaved. At least for now.

Read moreThey should probably call this Rockneck Beach! Very uncomfortable to walk on and when to waves are pushing you around, nothing like jamming your foot into them.
Our family used to come here all the time when I was a kid in the '70s and we loved it. I don't remember there being so many rocks. When we went back about 10 years ago it seemed like it was infested with them and when I asked people and about it nobody really seemed to have much concern or a good explanation.
It's too bad because otherwise it's a fun beach with all the waves. Great for body surfing or boogie boarding. You just have to be careful of the undertow.
The water seems to be more salty and have more seaweed than Cape Cod beaches.
Sometimes there are horseflies that give a bad sting and they apparently don't have the concession stand anymore.
Just saw that it's $40 for non-residents. Dropped it to a one star. I still live in New England but unfortunately not in Massachusetts.
I guess all that's good about it now are the...
Read moreWife and I arrived @ 8:45 am. Sat.08/09 Very few people on the beach, some overcast, but warm air temp with slight breeze. Great parking close to the main restroom at that time which made for an easy walk to the beach over the wooden boardwalk.(wheelchair accessible too) We found our favorite spot not far from the boardwalk, set up our beach gear and just sat and enjoyed the sparsely occupied beach, the quiet the view, and the gentle sound of the waves. More beachgoers and families started arriving as the morning progressed, maintaining their social distancing as well as wearing facemasks as they walked to the beach over the boardwalk. We felt very comfortable. The restrooms were open and well maintained. Horseneck Beach State Reservation safety is maintained through both state and local law enforcement personnel. Although the beach can have undertows and for which warning signs are posted, lifeguards are present. If you enjoy the beach, Horseneck is worth checking out! We had...
