This is one of those hidden gems you stumble onto when you're lucky. We found them completely by accident while looking for things to do and see on Whidbey Island on our way over from the ferry. The website said June is by appointment only so I called and spoke to Leanna, the owner. She was very nice and said anytime before 4. Just call when we get there and she'll open the gate.
My kids were hungry but willing to wait until after we saw the alpacas to find somewhere to eat. After all, how often do you get to see live alpacas? So we arrived by 2:45 and Leanna gave us a tour and told us all about her alpacas and gave us a complete history of her ranch.
She also sells fresh chicken eggs!
We got to pet them (sort of, as they don't really like to be touched but tolerated us) and watched them eat their pellets.
Leanna was very sweet and patient and told us all kind of stories about her alpacas and their names. They were so cute! She even has a pair of gay alpacas!
Anyways, if you ever visit the island go visit the alpacas. And don't forget to visit the gift shop for the homemade (and manufactured) goodies.

Not only were the alpacas absolutely adorable, but the owner LeeAnna was incredibly welcoming, friendly, and chock-full of all sorts of marvelous facts. We learned so much more than which alpaca was which (great names!) and why Brock was sequestered in his own paddock. My personal favourite tidbit involved FIGHTING TEETH!
Although our only souvenir this time around was several photos of the fleece-tastic flock, the farm did have a gift shop on site. (Our mistake for not having our wallets on us, as we would've loved to support the farm. It was clear there was a lot of care and passion put into it!)
If you're a seasoned alpaca aficionado you may already know what "pronking" is, but if not: look it up. You won't be...
Read moreOn a cold, rainy fall day, Pronkin Pastures welcomed us onto their ranch! We started by browsing through their gift shop to get some yarn and a cute Alpaca tree ornament. The owner Leanna graciously gave us a quick visit with Alpacas and some of their new babies in the middle of it raining! The Alpacas came right up to the gate to greet us (see pictures)!
Cool thing about this place is they actually sell some of the yarn they collect from their Alpacas on site! They are not open every day and foot traffic and events are way down due to covid, but this place offers facilities to be socially distant! Looking for a fun pit stop for the kids, this place is perfect! Alpaca my things...
