Pat and Dennis were amazing and made us feel so welcomed. They got us ready to go kayaking in 5 minutes after arriving and picked us back up right after we called that we made it to the end. The kayaks have molded in seating so they are more comfortable than the seats that are only supported by straps. Couldn’t have asked for a better day to have gone because we saw so much wildlife: turtles, fish, blue herons, teals, wood ducks, and even a bald eagle. 10/10 recommend going with Foggy Bottom to kayak the Harpeth.

Friendly staff. The trip took us about 2 1/2 hours to complete. At the end point there is a set of stairs and you pull your canoe or kayak out of the water and walk back to the store front. The walk is less than 5 minutes. The stairs and slight hill out of the river bank were “worse” than the walk to the store front. We got there around 9:30am and it wasn’t busy yet so we had minimal wait. Would definitely go again.

I don't even know where to begin with this experience me and my coworkers had at Foggy Bottom. We made a reservation for 12 pm for a 11 mile trip. We waited almost 2 hours before we were even brought to the river. Once we loaded onto the bus after sitting and waiting we were taken to the wrong drop off location. Once we told the driver where we were supposed to be dropped off he brought us to the correct place. He was the most pleasant person we talked to all day. Once we were on the river all was well. Until we reached a certain point and a ranger was telling us to come in if we had any of foggy bottom's equipment. We had rented 3 kayaks from them. So we pulled over to where the ranger was and a few of the people who worked at foggy bottom and they told us to get out of their kayaks. We were told that we told the driver the incorrect information about our drop off place. He said that because we gotten started so late (because they overbooked) we weren't able to do the 11 mile trip. No one informed us of this before we got into the water, so we were all surprised when we were pulled over by a ranger. Once we got out of the water the manager who was already rude earlier in the day when we were asking about our reservation was being just as rude when we got pulled over. He said we told his driver incorrect information and we were the reason that driver got sent home for the day. Had we been informed of this before the trip started or if they started us at the time we paid for all of this could have been avoided. I do not recommend Foggy Bottom to anyone. It was the worst experience any of us...

Surprising to see so many “good” reviews as this place has the worst customer service ever! I am quite sure he may be the some of who owns the place, which is even more sad, as he is very rude and obviously lazy! We called to ask about rates and availability and lady said just try to get there before noon preferred as they are short staffed and down to one person working??? We are going into Labor Day weekend??? Nonetheless this is not something you should be telling your paying customers? Then we arrive 11:55am, and guy says-“Did you not see the sign”? And oh my gosh- did those people not see the sign either?” Amd I said- yes I saw a sign- Saying last trip at noon! Well it was right at noon but we were also told- we prefer you to be here before noon as running 1/2 day trips since no help. The river was low but moving and very relaxing and the kid that drove us to the drop off was very sweet, helpful and pleasant, however, they told us to be back by 4p even though hours say til 6? And as we were approaching the take out area, the van to pick up kayaks saw us and then drove off as we approached? I do not agree with us having to walk up a hill and alongside a very busy road to get back when we pay to be dropped off and picked up? Nor are there any signs telling you what to do or where to go? Very poorly run and most importantly never seen such rude people and horrible customer service. We only go because not really anywhere else to go! But haven’t been in few years due to this and thought maybe had gotten better? But...

My dad and I have been coming here for years but have been unable to come the last few due to a back injury. We came today and I have to say... we were pretty disappointed. There were no backs on the conoes which made this trip pretty miserable when the backs used to be the main reason we would come to Foggy Bottom instead of other rental places around. I even called yesterday to ask about reserving a canoe with back rests and the lady just said "we have plenty, you don't need to reserve anything." I figured she would let us know if y'all didn't have back rests anymore.

On top of that, the trip was only 2 hours?! We used to float down the river all day long for the day trip. This was never mentioned when we arrived. No one told us that the trip had been extremely shortened or anything, they only told us to look for a bridge at the end. We ended up paddling backwards so we could have more time to hang out on the river.

Also, the prices have gone up tremendously. We'd pay $30 for an all day trip and not the price has almost doubled for a quarter of the time?! That makes no sense. And we have to carry all of our paddles, life jackets, seats, etc and walk like a quarter mile back to drop everything off on the side of the road. That's absolutely ridiculous. If y'all are going to make us walk, y'all need to take your equipment back yourselves.

We used to love this place. We are extremely disappointed and sadly most likely will not be back, which sucks because of how nice...
