All I can say is it’s been a day. Ya know what I mean kinda day of days. The kind where you leave yourself 3 hours of time to get to a course and warmup kinda feeling day. Then the US/ CAN border happens. And we barely make it to our time. So imagine wanting to play this course so much but no warmup and or info on the place with 2 randoms and a 2 sec crunch.
Ya I was frazzled big time. I like quick 4 hour rounds but I hate chaos starts. Let me say this course is brutal. Like hard. Like you don’t hit your driver for 4 holes hard cuz of weird layout and water. Hard to hit fairways!! Hard cuz I’m not a fan of the surgical golf. Hard cuz I never played it before and I am a lefty. Hard cuz the tee boxes are slanted mostly.
Fairways were meh I mean good luck hitting them anyways lol. Greens decent and rolled nicely. Rough easy enough. Sand bunkers were terrible. It’s like crispy dirt not sand.
The depression finally kicked in around the turn so the back 9 even tho harder was more enjoyable. You know what I mean. I play as a 10 HDCP so I can play ok golf. Except here. I played like a newb and prob spent $60 in ProV1 then donated it to the water hazard fairies lol.
I wanna come back but with a different mind set and game plan. I feel you don’t need driver at all here. It’s a hybrid 8 iron wedge course. The staff was so awesome and they...
Read moreThis is a really pretty, very well-maintained course. It's flat and easily walkable. There's water meandering throughout the course, and wetlands and marshes. The course itself, however, was dry. We heard many birds singing and saw some too, including a Cooper's Hawk. Buying the yardage book is recommended, because otherwise you may be vicitmized by surprise cross-fairway water and other water features. We played on a Monday and found the course uncrowded. The course was challenging but not unfair. It has a driving range. The pro shop staff were friendly and helpful. The price was reasonable. Twilight rates ($50) started at 1 pm even though it didn't get dark until after 9 pm. Senior rate is $55. This is the sister course to the nearby Semiahmoo Golf and Country Club. Both are private clubs but open to the public on alternating days. So, in other words, we were able to play Loomis on Monday (an even date) and Semiahmoo on Tuesday (an odd date), but could not have done the opposite. I recommend this course and would happily...
Read moreThis golf course has been one of the best alternative courses on the other side of the boarder. We played here often. During the round on last Saturday 3 September, we played with one of the co-owners of the course, an eldder, very nice gentlemen and enjoyed very much. Our luck ran out yesterday, on Friday, the 9th of September. The marshal on the first tee was hostile and bossy, showing no respect. We greeted him : how are you today? He replied rudely: I am hungry!
What a working attitude of this guy? Blame your employer or yourself when you have to work when you hungry, not your customers! The pace of the play was awfully slow, especially the back nine - long waiting for every hole... We asked the marshal why it is so slow, he replied: because so many people like you play golf! Very disappointed that Loomis Trail employed this hostile marshal that hates golfer or Canadian visitors.
BTW, the food and drink at the resturant were nice and the staff were friendly. If it could remain open after 7 would...
