Kirby’s Corner Market — Local services in Whiting

Once, I wandered into town out of the corn rows. The sun was high, and the temperature was even higher. The sweat began to drip down my face; I knew I needed a cold beverage and perhaps a delicious deli meat sandwich. A credit to the locals as they pointed me to this establishment, which is located just east of the railroad nicknamed "Ruth's Bane." Upon entering, the cool air-conditioned breeze flowed through my thinning hair, and the freshly mopped floor filled the atmosphere with a crisp and clean scent. Not more than a minute went by before my thirst was slaked, and my hunger pangs eased. As I wandered the isles, I found a vast array of different boxed , canned, and fresh goods. It was truly a place where one could gather a vast bounty. I will always think back fondly on this place and how it was my island in the ocean that was the summer heat. Traveling today and stopped in to eat. They were out of the daily special; the deli counter guy didn't care about my inconvenience. No apology and no offer of anything. No friendliness about him. Noticed the roller grill on the way too the front, but it was empty. I asked the cashier if she could put a couple on for me and was met with the same unfriendliness, with an attitude meant to discourage my request. She could put some on, but 'it'll be 30 minutes before they're done, as If I was inconveniencing her by making the request. She did, however, point me towards the restaurant a couple doors down. Exceptional experience at that eatery. If I could provide a review without the min 1-star rating, my day would be complete. 0/10 do...

Great small town grocery store and gas station. Quick breakfast and lunch items for sale, mostly fried food. Grocery store has a great variety of items besides food. ATM in store, restrooms available. There is a pharmacy attached also. Meat is excellent...
