My mother and I so enjoyed visiting this during her weekend visit.
We spent the earlier part of the day in Colonial Williamsburg, which is only about 25 minutes away, then drove on Jolly Pond Road (make sure you don't go the route that crosses the water, it's closed and you must turn around and detour) up to this gorgeous farm.
We checked in ($2 per person pre-reservation during COVID required) and then decided to do two U-Pick bouquets for $8 each and spent the next hour picking lavender and taking photos and enjoying ourselves. BEWARE - bugs are plentiful and I'm talking horseflies - so if you are one of those people who always gets bitten, come prepared or buy some of the bug spray available in the shop.
I had reserved us both a picnic lunch basket as well so after we picked our bouquets we went back inside to have them wrapped and then we chose our lavender drinks for our picnic around the side in the barn (or wherever we wanted bc you get a blanket to sit on if you'd like to go elsewhere on the farm). My mom chose lavender sweet tea while I chose lavender lemonade. Our baskets each had a turkey and cheese croissant with lettuce and tomato, a bottle of water, a lavender fruit salad, and a lavender brownie as well. I added a Lavender Bliss ice cream with local creamery vanilla bean (SO GOOD) and lavender syrup from the farm drizzled on top. It was all good, fresh, and cold!
Afterwards we went back inside the shop to speak to Hannah, part owner of the mother-daughter-duo who run this place and shop. I got some lavender syrup, lavender whipped honey, lavender and bumble bee towels, lavender chapstick, and lavender candles. You can do some damage in here!
The shop is beautiful and well-stocked with all sorts of lavender goodies and the skincare is held to European standards so should minimize allergic reactions with extra, unnecessary, crazy ingredients.
We had such a great afternoon that we can't wait to come back and bring friends. Ample parking and the cleanest porta potty...
Read moreAbsolutely loved our morning here. When we drove up, we were a little skeptical, but it was awesome!
They have 3 kinds of lavender. It is so aromatic to walk through the fields. When you check in, and if you choose to make a lavender bouquet, they give you a cute basket and scissors and show you how to properly harvest the lavender. They also give you a ring to wrap around the lavender to judge the size of lavender bouquet 💐 you get. (very clever)
There are such a variety of bees to watch on the lavender, which is so neat. You can also purchase a wildflower bouquet 💐 and they give you a cup and scissors.
The sheep are the sweetest sheep we have ever pet/fed. You pay $3 for your whole family/group. And they give you a bag of food to feed the sheep. We had a 22 month old with us and she absolutely loved feeding the sheep because of the gentleness around people. You can tell these sheep are well cared for!
They have a shop with everything lavender. They sell treats as well: lavender lemonade (very sweet), lavender iced tea (perfect amount of sweet), lavender scones (not to lavnederish), soaps, oils, lotions, bug spray.
We went, not knowing what to expect and were very pleased we did! I am definitely telling my friends about it and going again sometime. 💐
I heard they are going to do something this fall with pumpkins and sunflowers! Can't wait to try...
Read moreFirst this place is not handicap accessible, there are no marked handicapped parking spots and I don’t believe the restroom is handicap accessible bc there is a step up into the restroom and only one indoor restroom ( I did see porta pots in the parking lot). You pay for a ticket to get in but you also pay for each bouquet you pick, lavender, wildflowers, zinnias or sunflowers. We were told we couldn’t pick sunflowers even though I did see other people who had picked them. Not many zinnias in bloom. There should be signs directing to which type of lavender and there should be a guide handed out on how to care for the lavender or with just general info, about lavender and the grounds. The best part was the lavender lemonade but that also had a strange set up that required going in the gift shop to order drinks/ food and then you had to go outside in the back to pick up your order. I saw a few people who were confused by the setup. There could be signs indicating where to go, where the restrooms are etc. Since the first person you see when you check in can’t give any information, there should be a flier/ handout to tell all of the information- map showing each field of flowers- with each type...
