Used to be better, but last time I stopped here was less than acceptable. Signage says 5 AM to 10 PM, however at 9:30 PM they had signs up that they were closed and that the restrooms were closed for maintenance and for the night. The door was still open and a clerk was at the counter, and all she wanted to say was "sorry, the restrooms are closed." That's not something a driver who is shutdown and stuck there overnight wants to hear.
Don't be surprised if you find the gravel lot for trucks littered with biohazard trash because the owner doesn't want to keep the hours posted on the door. Very few drivers do choose this location out of necessity. Read the other reviews, they pretty much state the obvious.
The restaurant was closed years ago and there are no plans for putting a new one in. There is a chicken grill here, however it's been a long time since I had anything from it as it didn't have many choices at the time frame I was visiting in (usually later in evening when the grill is closed or about to close). The store has not been a 24-hour store for a long time (years).
The facilities here are in poor condition and the whole building needs updating. The staff working here are usually very friendly, but I've never seen the business owner/manager on the premises, which is something that could improve the reputation here. An owner who cares about their business shows a presence and makes improvements. This location has lots of untapped potential and needs good management to utilize that potential.
The biggest downside here are the local organic rice farmers, who use no pest control (although organic solutions do exist, which can also be used in the vicinity of local businesses to ensure customers aren't driven away) . The mosquitoes are huge and many carry west nile, so avoid this place at night during the warm season. If you must park overnight during the warm season, keep your vehicle closed up tight or you'll be the feast.
For the last night I was here = no stars (negative not possible) Overall experience with...
Read moreThe two girls I met there were very nice and helpful the bathrooms weren’t super clean but decent -one for men and one for the women. The stalls had locking devices on them the main door didn’t on the bathroom but that’s OK that’s as it should be when you have a handicap stall & a regular sized stall. Lots of little snacks to choose from (a little pricey )but all truckstops are ,so that’s the norm especially for these small mom-and-pop truckstops. The parking area is large for trucks lots of room & very clean and the gravel lot is graded. I did not have any problems with mosquitoes and I am allergic to them but I have had problems at the other major truckstops with mosquitoes it’s just the nature of the area with all the farming. Did not have a bad experience here at all and will be back this week to park again at...
Read moreMy wife needed to stop somewhere for some amenities before we reached our final destination. She found this on Google while I was driving and gave me directions. I remembered the name but couldn't place it. When we got there I remembered why I don't stop here. Apparently the locals know too...the chicken place isn't open anymore, the restrooms probably haven't been cleaned since I was last here a decade ago. Yes, thats an exaggeration, but honestly; the odor was horrible. Reminded me of construction zone porty potties in triple digit summer heat. A lot of products are out, and according to the guy at the register, have been out for a while. My wife didn't find what she needed, yet she'll remember not to...
