The price for 18 holes is absolutely ridiculous here. Two days of the week it’s actually somewhat reasonable (Tuesday & Wednesday $49). Thursday jumps up to $55 and then Friday goes up $10 more dollars at $65 a round. Saturday & Sunday are priced at $15 more for the weekend at $80 for your round. Not to mention a Monday round of 18 is priced at $65. Almost every course within a 50 mile radius is cheaper. I played about 20 rounds here this year just on convenience of the course being close to home for me. I also use the practice area and driving range a couple times a week also to try and improve my game. The other day Mr. Kappos tells me that the practice area is not free unless you spend money there, in which I explained I spend quite a bit of money there throughout this year. I have spent a significant amount of money playing this course over the years and was absolutely disgusted with Mr. Kappos attitude about not being able to use the practice area without spending money at their facility. I have asked the pro shop more than once if the practice area is free and their response was always “yes it is”. Absolutely absurd! Needless to say they are one of the only courses around with a huge fluctuations in price throughout the week and double the price of any other courses around for a weekend round. Mr. Kappos was very rude to tell me the practice area isn’t free only because he seemed to think that I don’t spend money golfing there. Very unprofessional behavior for Mr. Kappos to say that to me when in my 25 years of golfing, I know I’ve spent thousands of dollars over the years golfing there. I will take my business elsewhere and also save some money in...
Read morePoor course management. Made the turn at 9, only to find the owner put two foursomes ahead of us on the 10th. One group was in the fairway, and the other group still was waiting to tee off. When we asked what was going on, we were told this group of eight showed up (apparently without a tee time), and only wanted to play nine. So they put the two foursomes ahead of us minutes before we made the turn. Since it was threatening rain, which we liked could have got ahead of if these foursomes were not inappropriately jn a inserted before us, we got a raincheck. When I voiced my displeasure with the desk attendant, he said, "I hope you understand, they onlywantedto play nine. " What I understand is they don't know how to manage a golf course, and they don't know what good customer service is! In all the years I have played golf (over35), I never had a course put two ( or even one) foursome ahead of me on the 10th as I made the turn. And then to say they just showed up and wanted to play nine is absurd. All I wanted to do is finish my round ahead of the rain, and in two hours or less, which would not have occurred because these groups were inserted...
Read moreMy friends and family and I all live in or around Coal City. We will all drive an hour before we will pay the ridiculously outrageous rates that Cinder Ridge wants to charge. Is it a nice course ..yes, is management amd ownership the dumbest people ever...yes. I went to the driving range at like 5 pm on Saturday of Memorial day weekend, and the course was empty, parking lot basically empty. Why? Because you charge way way way too much to play your course. You want to charge outrageous rates, charge it to people from outside of Coal City, Wilmington, Braidwood. Youre course might fill up again. Otherwise, we refuse to play and will keep going to Wolf Creek, Dwight CC, and honestly anywhere but Cinder Ridge. Wake up!!! You are not an $80/ a...
