CMC Electrical & Generator Repair — Local services in Wilsons Mills

I have a general contracting business in wake county and have been contracting electrical work for over 25 years and have had dozens of electrical companies do business for my company for thousands of different projects. I had the need for a personal project on my home which included installing a whole home generator and completely upgrading my electrical service and panels. I had made several appointments for companies to come and meet with me for a scope of work and to get an estimate for that work. CMC Electric stood out head and shoulders above four other electrical companies in which I have used in the past. As this project was my home, it was very important that a high level of professional business acumen was going to be required. This job was going to take more than knowledge of electrical work, it was going to take coordination of men, communication from many different groups involved. The permit is required for this project and understanding how that works I knew going into this project it is going to take many days with many men and an extreme amount of communication with the city, power companies, gas company, local no cuts, permit office, inspection departments just to name a few. Once I went through the process of interviewing the companies it was very clear the estimator Neal was the best above all others in his job. I was completely satisfied with the scope of work on the contract and the price was by far the best value for the work that was to be done. Once the lead electrical supervisor Dominic arrived I was able to get a formal introduction of his team of men and exactly what they were all going to do for my home. I'm am very critical of men working in and around a homeowners home as my business was build on remodeling and renovating homes. I had excellent communication with the office administrators from CMC Electric through the whole process. I knew who was coming each day and when they were coming by multiple communication methods they use. Dominic was a very educated man on more than electrical work as I watched him lead and teach his many men about how the job will be preformed and how it will make the homeowner feel if its done properly versus quickly. Update (Feb 13, 2023): Within hours of posting my original review the president (Chris) of CMC reached out to me. Chris explained what happened with my situation and was more than accommodating while working to remedy the problem. As of today I've received a refund for the quote I spoke about in the original review.

Everyone I spoke with throughout this refund process was incredibly kind and professional. Given that CMC really did do great work for us in the past, and how smoothly this situation was resolved, I will likely be going back to CMC for future home electrician needs.

Original Review (Feb 2, 2023): I reached out to CMC in September about installing a generator connection and they told me they couldn't do it without first quoting the work. On 9/29/22 they came out and gave me a quote for a total of $95.68. Because the quote was required by them I took some time to review it before ultimately deciding to go with CMC as the contractor for the work; however, on 10/17/22, about two weeks after they provided the quote (and 2 days before a separate electrician visit I had scheduled with them) I received a voicemail from CMC saying that they were shutting down their electrician service. In this voicemail I was told there was nothing I could do, no number they could provide to reach them, and sorry but I'm out of luck.

After trying a few numbers I managed to get ahold of an employee at CMC. I requested a refund for the money I was required to spend on the quote as well as a number I could follow-up with. The person said that I would be receiving a call from a manager later that day with information and that I'd "probably get a refund at some point". It's now been 3+ months since all of this transpired and I've heard nothing nor have I received a refund.

UPDATE: 7-20-23 Had a warranty issue handled by John Vaccarella. CMC as a company down to every employee has communication with the customer down to an incredibly reliable science. Any product made by man is subject to failure, what separates CMC in this process is their focus on servicing their customers needs. Love working with these guys and highly recomend John and CMC for all your electrical needs.

UPDATE: 1-31-2023 Had CMC install a new Generac generator to my home. Great communications with John Vaccarello who quoted and participated in the installation. Chase Lewis took the lead on site and completed all of the hookups along with Chase Westbrook. These fellows worked like a very efficient team each anticipating the next steps in the process of installation. Very professional and highly recommended.

Particular praise to Chase Lewis throughout the install, very respectful, polite, and informative. He took extra time to explain everything the team was doing, how it would all work and left me with the impression I will have a great support team should anything develop in the future.

Per below, I worked with CMC on other installs and service needs prior and they are as good today as they were in my last review. I highly recommend Chris, Chase, John and Chase for any and all electrical jobs you would need. You truly get quality service for the price you pay and it was well worth it.
