Wimberley Glassworks — Local services in Wimberley

My wife and I visited Wimberly Glass Works several weekends ago during a weekend drive about. Keep in mind that we have visited glass factories in Santa Fe, northern California, New York, Pennsylvania, and Cabo. These are my findings; Facilities: The physical plant is clean, modern and well thought out with amenities for travelers. The merchandise is well displayed and clearly marked. Personnel; All personnel were very cordial. The demonstration alone is worth the visit. Tim deJong is the owner and head sweeper upper. His demo into the complexities and art of glassmaking is excellent. If you have never seen this, you will be amazed. Product; The glassware is top quality. If you are expecting WalMart glass, just go for the demo. In today's mass market factory made marketplace, most people forget the value of a custom made piece of art made by a master craftsman. After years of living nearby and hearing about this amazing business, I finally got to experience my first trip to see the magnificent creations that Tim has to offer! I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the live demonstration/performance from Tim. He has a captivating way of explaining the process and methods used to create glass pieces, and happily answers questions. We also had the pleasure of chatting a little more with Tim when we were outside with our friends before we left. He really made the visit extra special. We bought the 2024 Christmas Ornament with a stand and have it proudly displayed in our home. We plan to buy a new one from him every year as a new Christmas tradition! Their demonstrations are engaging and the artists are true showman and know how to keep your attention. The gallery is absolutely breathtaking with gorgeous pieces for all tastes. If you don't want to pay $5000 for a costume chandelier or vase they have a room off to the side dedicated to happy accidents and sales. At most places this would mean ugly mismatched works that no one would want. This isn't the case at Wimberly Glassworks, even the ones that don't make it to the gallery life are absolutely lovely and very reasonably priced. I went home with a pair of ears for $22 which is what you would pay for a bland piece in a department store. This place is a true treasure,...
