Just stopped in here after a 13 hour day working driving in the car. Actually, I’ve just worked 18 consecutive 12 hour days.
Came in completely sober around 9pm and purchased 2 12 ounce beers. Had to take a second to find my license in my wallet and the lady at the register asked me if I’m OK?
She kind of threw me off with her questions, so I asked what she meant if I’m OK? She wanted to know if I was inebriated or “on something”. But I was stone cold sober. Been busting my ass . Been driving for 13 hours and hadn’t eaten for 24 hours.
Told her, no. I was stone cold sober and I’ve just worked 90 days for 8 to 10 hours a day with maybe three days off and I’m really tired.
Really ticked me off.
I’m middle 40s, Not a slob and dressed professionally and I’ve never been asked a question like that. I’m also on the autistic spectrum,so maybe I have a weird gaze or something. Wouldn’t be the first time somebody assumed I was under the influence or something just because of the way my eye contact looks. Ensure, I probably have bags or rings under my eyes after working almost 90 days straight.
I had a really long hard day and just wanted to come home and have a couple beers. Have some dinner and go to bed before doing another 12 hour day tomorrow. And the next. And the next.
If I was falling down, stumbling, souring my words, wreaking of booze than I could understand the question. But asking if I’m inebriated or “on something} because I look really tired and worn out because I’m a working man. Give me a breaK! Couldn’t believe she told me to have a nice night! I was so flabbergasted it took me a couple minutes after I walked out to realized what it just happened.
In the future, I’ll get my two knock off drinks at the North Windham location because I’ve been going there for years and they’ve never asked me such a stupid question, even when one of their own employees is sometimes obviously under the influence of. opiates. Went in there last week and it took him a full 10 seconds to hand me my one dollar bill back with a very long delayed response like he was on something. Not the first time with...
Read moreHardly ever open on time in the morning. I’ve come several times at five, and either the door is locked or the pumps aren’t on. Today I waited until 5:10, and the door was never opened, and the pumps were never turned on. Other folks were waiting outside for the store to open as well. There was one time where they were open, and I went inside and asked why their pumps weren’t on, and the guy argued with me saying that they were on (they...
Read more04/16/2022 around 9 am was not a good experience. All I wanted was to use the ATM located at the front entrance. I was nervous that I almost forgot to take the money out of the slot. All eyes on me, folks whispering silently, and the atmosphere seems racially profiled and I’m thankful it didn’t escalate to anything worst. Definitely wouldn’t return back to...
