Just wow! The things humanity can build give a budget and some time is simply mind blowing. This tunnel is an example. It’s a mile long supposedly and it comes out right at the base of Winter Park. Crazy to think we’re just a mile away from WP. The dates at the front of the tunnel indicate it took 4 years to build. The parking at the tunnel is ample. We were here in September when the leaves are turning and there were a hundred plus cars in the parking lot but we still had plenty of room to park. The tunnel has loud fans that blow after the train goes through to clear the exhaust from the train but they stop blowing after a little while. And if you just get started with your hike you’ll quickly get away from the noise as well. Great spot...
