I actually quite love this place. We're from North Carolina but come to Virginia on weekends to tend to some property we have here in Big Stone Gap. We occasionally go to this flea market during the mornings to look around. There's always new vendors, as well as some common vendors who are there every time. I mainly have a couple of complaints about the people who go there to shop, as well as a vendor. First of all, it's really crowded, so the walkways could be a bit bigger. People tend to stand right in the middle of the walkway and make it hard to proceed and keep looking, or just walk extremely slow without moving to the side to let people pass, KNOWING there are people behind them. This isn't really a huge problem, but it can be annoying, and it's not the trade center's owner's fault. I just wish people were more respectful. Now, the MAIN complaint I have is that there is multiple vendors who are there all the time, that sell bootleg items. Such as Magic Mart's vendor; They sell slime/putty, bags, and other cute things like cheap headphones that are below average quality but good for the price. Now, what upsets me most, is that the trading cards that they sell are fake. They LOOK real; They come in a package like in stores, and it looks legit. However, upon buying five packs and opening the first one, I immediately noticed that they were fake. They were misprinted, made out of poor materials, and the full art/ EX cards that came in the packs that were SUPPOSE to be holo foil (sparkly/shiny) were not holo. You could tell that they had been printed from a printer, and you could see the reflection of the original holofoil faintly printed onto it. Not only this, but the pictures, words and everything else were blurry, as if printed off of a low-quality printer. As someone who has been collecting pokemon cards since I was 4, this upset me greatly. I had wasted my money buying packs only to get home and discover that they were all frauds. I had bought things from this vendor before, like putty, earphones, and bags, and they were all decent quality especially for the low prices. But the fact that they print out fake pokemon cards has caused me to lose all respect for them, and I doubt I'll buy anything from them again. This specific vendor did not impact my rating in any way, I just wanted to warn others who might be considering buying trading cards from Magic Mart. My rating WOULD be five stars, if the place weren't so cramped and hard to navigate through, but I suppose this can't be helped, especially on...
Read moreIt's a fairly nice place for an outdoor only flea market. The majority of booths were covered and even though we went on a hot day, it seems the location coming off a hill helped with a nice breeze that was near constant. It's hard to rare flea markets as it comes down to the vendors and those change week to week, so I basically rate the facilities and fullness of the booths and this place is one of the better outdoor only (again, it is mostly covered booths) flea markets in the region and I was shocked at the size. I'd driven by the place a hundred times but never on a day they have flea markets so was oblivious to it existing and was shocked at the...
Read moreThe new hotspot for SW VA's flea market needs. It has grown into quite a gathering place over the past few years and is a great spot to buy or sell guns tools, toys, electronics, and about every other type of odds and ends including produce, fresh foods, and even some small livestock here and there. The market is open Wed, Sat and Sun with Wed being the biggest day usually. Some things are a big overpriced, but if you take your time and look around you can find some good buys. If they were smart they would build it all in and make it an indoor flea market so it could run year round, but I don't see that happening...
