For the last couple of years we have had significant roof leaks during hard rainstorms. The water seemed to be coming from leaks around the original chimney installed in the house and leaking into the main bathroom. The existing roof was 22 years old and needed to be replaced. I have wanted to remove the chimney for many years and replacing the roof would give me a good reason to have the chimney removed. I searched Google reviews and selected three companies in the area for their good reviews and contacted The Roof Company for a quote. Gage came to the house and did a very thorough inspection and gave us a nice, detailed quote. The Roof Company quote was not the lowest but I had the best feeling about them and so met with Gage to finalize the contract. He gave my wife and me many good roof colors to choose from and we selected a gray tone to replace a very old faded orange roof. I also wanted new rain gutters installed with a leaf guard covering them. There were many different colors of rain gutters but we selected black to pair with the gray roof. The roofing group came to install the roof and arrived relatively early in the morning. They carefully covered the bushes and flowers around the house and the deck behind the house and proceeded to remove the old roof. The roof had old can vents, which had been installed 22 years ago but were not up to present code. I decided to have the can vents removed and replaced by a ridge vent. Obviously included was the removal of the old chimney. Inasmuch as the house is 60 years old, the old roof deck plywood sheets were beginning to be soft and needed to be replaced. The roofing crew removed all of the old shingles and roof deck and proceeded to install the new OSB sheets, the water guard covering, and the new shingles. They worked very carefully and efficiently and completed the job by the end of the day. They were also very careful about cleaning up the pieces of old broken shingles that had fallen onto the ground and into areas where there may have been a gap in the tarps covering the plants. They ran ground magnets around the house multiple times to pick up any nails that had fallen. They did a very thorough job cleaning everything up and leaving the house looking as it did before they started. The roof looks terrific and I am very pleased with how it turned out. A couple of weeks later the crew installing the new rain gutters came for their installation. They arrived in the afternoon and completed the job by the end of the day. Just as the roofing crew, the gutter crew was very efficient with both the installation and cleanup. My wife was a little concerned about the black rain gutters because we've always had a lighter colored rain gutter but she is please at how the black gutters look against the gray roof and stands out against the white siding. They also work well with the dark green window shutters and green front door. I am very pleased with the quality of the work on the new rain gutters and the way the project turned out. I do have one small word of caution, however. As complete an inspection as Gage did for the quote, he never would have known or been able to understand that the 60 year-old original roof deck sheets needed to be replaced and therefore wouldn't have included that in the original quote. There is a line in the quote, which says that additional sheets of OSB will cost $68 each. I was more than happy to have the old plywood sheets replaced with new OSB sheets but I wasn't prepared for the number of sheets that a new roof, even on a house as small as ours, would require. The additional number of sheets added over $3,000 to the original cost of the project. If you have an older house, maybe 40 years old or older, please be prepared to accept that you may need additional OSB sheets to replace old plywood sheets, which will add additional cost to your project. Having said that, I would still stongly recommend The Roof Company because their work is outstanding. I am extremely pleased with the new roof and rain gutters.

If you're looking for an honest, ethical, and quality company, look no further than The Roof Company! I knew after talking with Gage, that this was the company I wanted to replace our roof. His straight forward presentation, and detailed quote left nothing to surprise. The price he quoted was the price we paid. Gage even made an additional trip to our house to make sure the colors we picked worked best with our setting. I really appreciated his devotion to making sure we got the look we wanted! After that, Faith kept us informed every step of the way with email reminders, and an online profile which enabled us to see our project details in real time. The actual roof team was fantastic! Great care was taken to cover all of our windows and shrubbery. The completed roof looks PERFECT, and the clean up was meticulous. I love that this is a local company who does things right, and I HIGHLY recommend them!!

Excellent customer service which started with Gage and ended with Alex. Both were professional and knowledgeable about the roofing business. Not only did they verbally explain the problems and needs of our roof but they complemented their explanations with pictures. The company set up a profile account for us that we could access at any time. The profile housed before and after pictures of the roof and provided real time information regarding anticipated start date. I can not forget the office staff Faith who sent count down to work notifications. There was no guess work involved with when the company would start the project. I would highly recommend the Roof Company for your roofing needs.

You cannot trust this company. We had them do our roof which then leaked causing extensive damage in our living room. The ceiling is vaulted so water entered and ran down the walls causing drywall damage both at the peak and on the walls. They came out to see the damage, fixed the roof, and told us to get it repaired and they’d reimburse us. This took awhile (hard to find someone who will fix a high ceiling) but when we sent them the bill as they instructed they claimed they had no record of it. No record when they came out and fixed it?!? They now say we didn’t follow their procedure for getting the damage repaired (what procedure? They told us to fix it.)

This company does not stand behind their work. They are eager to get your business but if you have a problem, you are out of luck. Go find another company if you are thinking of having roofing work done.

**In response to your reply: Isn’t it you who did not follow your own protocol? The leak was reported to you as evidenced by the repair you made and the damage to the ceiling and drywall reported. You did not send anyone out for estimates. You did not follow up with us despite knowing we had a major leak. We were not informed of any protocol. We were specifically told to get our own repairs done and we even voiced concern that it could take a long time to find someone reputable willing to do the work. When your workers damaged our car by throwing shingles on it, you told us to get it repaired and you’d pay us back. Without knowing your “protocol” how were we to know that the damage in our home would be handled differently?

Beware of this company. They knew there was damage in our home...

Why I START with LOCAL. One of the few things we have control over is HOW we spend our money, WHAT we spend our money on and WHO we spend our money with. If you want to impact your world, try starting with impacting things on the local level. If you reside in the surrounding area, why would you not want to use a company who employs those who pump from the same gas pump as you, wait in the same line at the drive thru as you or whose children attend the same schools yours do? Did you not make the CHOICE to move to this area for a reason? Of course! It’s PEOPLE who make the difference. And, PEOPLE…LOCAL PEOPLE will benefit from hiring this company. Think Win/Win or no deal! From the time Chris came out to go over the scope of work, all while setting the proper expectations, to the time the shiny new gutters and downspouts were installed, the ROOF COMPANY NAILED IT! (PUN INTENTIONAL) From the time the estimated day of installation was set, Chris would email once per week and keep me posted on their progress and let me know if we were still running on time. I can’t say this enough, “Price is what you pay and value is what you get.” You can shop long and hard and find someone, some other “company”, who will do the job for less, yes. However, what VALUE does their price tag bring? I would bet it’s work done by people who DON’T live in the South Lyon Area, DON’T pump from the same pump and DON’T see our children, playing together. I also doubt they will offer you anywhere near the Warranty and Guaranty of craftsmanship the Roof Company offers. These guys LISTEN, they are PROACTIVE and they...
