my husband booked a stay for 3/10 - 3/12. after realizing he had booked the wrong cabin, he asked if we could be switched. we were switched to the fox magdaline cabin. we arrived sometime after 4:30 on 3/10 (check in is at 3). we never received the lock box code, so my husband reached out to get it. upon arriving, we could see that the jacuzzi tub , is just that. a jacuzzi tub meant for indoors, that has been rigged up with a light switch for the jets out on the porch. no big deal. Even though we had planned to be in a jacuzzi tub together, i knew at the very least i could use it (i work long hours running a store) and that would still be nice. we also figured out pretty quickly that there is no spa like is advertised on expedition. but nevertheless , we were on vacation in the mountains! we got inside, dropped our stuff off, and rushed back out to see the town with what daylight was left and grab dinner. i lost my id prior to coming and the casino wouldn't take my paper version. so after being turned away from the casino at a little after 11 , we decided we'd just head back to the cabin. however, upon returning to the cabin, within the hour, we knew we wouldn't be staying.
my husband took a shower and then he went to try and run the jacuzzi tub for me. it didn't work. the switch on the wall had power and you could hear the jets come on, but when turning the handles , we could never get water to come out (if there are special instructions for this, they were not listed). upset, but still in the mountains we started to try and get ready for bed while straightening our things up so we'd be settled and know where our things were. there was still a running creek out beside the cabin, so i thought maybe that would make up for lack of jacuzzi. i used the toilet and it shifted with me on it. it was not secured to the floor and actually felt like it was close to going through the floor (have picture and video). i also carry silicone sandwich bags with me bc they are reuseable. while unpacking, i dropped one on the floor and when i picked it up, it was covered in dark colored hair (i am blonde and we hadn't spent enough time in this cabin to get it dirty). so i start looking around, because i just cant imagine all the hair that alwas stuck go my bag (we were told these cabins are deep cleaned after the people leave) i pull out the drawer for the table beside the bed, there is a dead moth in the drawer. i move the table to the side and there was a deodorant cap laying on the floor. my husband and i ended up packing up, leaving around midnight and renting 2 nights at the econolodge up the road. when my husband called the following morning to inform them of what had happened, he was told that we were just trying to get the cabin for free and that they couldn't give refund because they couldn't 'let us stay there for free'. the lady also stated she didn't understand why i wanted to use the jacuzzi 'in winter'. but as my husband stated, we paid for an amenity and had every right to use it as such.
we stayed in a cabin ran by Great Smokey Mountain about 5 years ago for our honeymoon and it was such a great experience. this experience with panther creek, was completely the opposite. im all for giving someone an opportunity to make something right. but to tell a guest that they're trying to get something for free that they never used and/or never even stayed the first night in, is unprofessional.
edit to add (had to delete some of original due to character limit) you may call me a liar all you wish. but my bank statement shows where i paid you as well as paid 2 nights at the Econolodge. i didn't do that for my health. i also did not pack up all of my things and leave a cabin at almost midnight to have to go up the street and pay another $200 that i hadn't planned for. after 1.5 months, my bank saw you were the liar and not me. thankfully i got my money back because you didn't deserve it. if i had actually used and/or stayed there, i could see you getting it. but not when we never slept there. DO NOT...
Read moreAfter a 6 night stay at the Panther Creek Cabins, we checked out yesterday morning. We were sad to leave because we enjoyed ourselves immensely. We wanted seclusion, privacy and particularly, no noise or static from the outside world. We wanted to re-group and this was the absolutely perfect place to do all those things, and so much more. We reconnected with nature, we saw the amazing Great Smoky Mountains and all the attractions which are indigenous to land of the Cherokee Nation. Harrah's Casino was just down the road. Although we didn't gamble (we spent too much time rocking on the porch!!) it was nice that we had the opportunity to do so, if we wanted. The staff was there for any needs we may have had, although never were intrusive in any way, giving us the solace we wanted. The lack of certain amenities, such as no cable and no wi-fi, were not a problem for us at all. The reason we choose Panther Creek cabins (after much research) was to get AWAY from screens and the annoyances of everyday life. If we needed to make a call there was wi-fi a few miles down the road. For me, however, it was nice being unreachable and being off the grid. We checked in late (the manager, Ms. Miriam, left the key in the door to avoid any issues with the lock box in the dark) and at midnight was the start of my friend's 60th birthday. Although we drove for 8 hours and we were no doubt tired, instead of going to bed, we had a toast at midnight to celebrate and got in the amazing Jacuzzi Tub on the porch, with the woods the full moon and nothing but the sounds of nature surrounding us, we felt like in 8 hours we were somehow transcended into another world. It was so peaceful and relaxing. The air was different. Getting up and having coffee overlooking our spectacular view was so enjoyable and although we had plans to do "touristy" stuff the next morning, instead we ended up staying there and watching the world and the amazing beauty from our vantage point unfold before us.I hated leaving. We will definitely be returning! Thank you, Ms, Miriam, the host and manager. She was kind, considerate and accomodationing. She genuinely cared and was happy to know that our time there was a wonderful experience. We will never forget the memories we made there driving through the Smoky Mountains and visiting a few of the shops. However our most memorable moments we're just sitting on the front porch, taking in nature and for 6 days just remembering that this is the most beautiful Country in the world, with nice people. It may not seem so this day in age, but that get-away reminded me that as crazy as the world has become, this Country is still the most beautiful in the world full of wonderful people and if we just follow the laws of nature, the world too, just as I did, could reflect, reknew and restore. Thanks again! Lorilyn M....
Read moreThe cabin was very cute. The best part was the running creek right next to it. The jacuzzi was only big enough for my 8 year old son. It was a jetted bathtub that is jacuzzi brand.Too small to be enjoyable. The bed was advertised to be a queen but it was only a full. The bed was terribly soft. I donât know that Iâve ever felt a bed as soft as this one. It was terrible since ,I have lower back issues.I just could not sleep in it.My husband and I did not rest well. The second night I ended up sleeping in the oversized recliner and really messed up my neck. I would have been better off sleeping in the floor. I may wouldâve slept in the floor if the floor wasnât dirty. The cabin was not as clean as it needed to be. Cobb webs everywhere. Lots of dust. I actually felt a little offended that an envelope was left to tip the person doing the cleaning, except while we were gone.... no one came to clean or remove trash or make beds nor was the cabin very clean.I definitely would not have minded leaving a tip had the cabin been a lot cleaner than it was. There was no window covering on the front entry door no window in the what I would have considered the master bedroom. No a/c in that room either. There was a ceiling fan but we needed more air circulation that what that fan could provide.Very stuffy and very dark in that room. I would consider renting it again if the cabin was cleaned more than it was and they got firmer beds and furniture. The pricing of the cabin I felt is fair. But like I said firmer bed and cleaner cabin. Iâve edited this since Iâve gotten a reply. The cabin indeed was not clean. Everyone has there own version on clean and clean it was not. My feet were black from walking from the bedroom to the bathroom. And yes the room was incredibly stuffy. The one window a/c that was on the far side of the cabin and did nothing to cool that room. A window would have been wonderful. And if someone fooled you into believing that mattress is a queen. shame on them.Maybe put some sort of support under that mattress. A pirate of plywood would firm that mattress right up! Iâve rented plenty of hotels and slept cozy on plenty of queen size mattresses. I have two fulls in my own home. I know how small they are. My review was written with my experience of the cabin. Instead of leaving an envelope for a tip go ahead and add additional fees for cleaning. You may want to make sure your cleaning crews are doing their job and actually sweeping and mopping and dusting. The you can actually charge a...
