After reading everyone's reviews, we decided to risk it and making the trip anyways. Frankly, I don't understand why there are so many poor reviews. Perhaps it's just growing pains over the years for the business, or maybe only super disgruntled people write negative reviews while those who are happy with their experience either choose not to or forget. Regardless, I felt this place needed a recent review.
Let's be honest: if you are looking for some kind of fancy place with horse drawn hay rides into a scenic field of unharvested pumpkins, you will be disappointed. I don't know of any place like this in Colorado. I've read Flat Acres has tractor-drawn hay rides, but there was no petting zoo, no slides, and no pony rides, which is why we decided on Colorado Pumpkin Patch. It's not fancy, but it's fun for the kids. It seemed like every kid there was having a blast. I wouldn't say this is something for older children, but if you have kids say pre-tween, this is a great place to go for your kid to let loose and play. What does it look like? A giant, mowed field with various activities. There's a mini hay maze for little ones, a slide, swings, pony rides, a petting zoo, places to pose for silly photos, face painting and more. Again. It is not fancy, but it's fun! It wasn't too crowded and the setting is nice. The staff was friendly and helpful.
My 19 month old had a blast on the pony ride (which was $8 additional for 3 laps in a rather large corral) and looking at the animals in the petting zoo. We didn't do face painting, but I made note for my review that it was $5 extra. Pumpkins are additional as well, and the price varies based on the size, but it seems like most places charge an entry fee and an additional price for the pumpkin, so I wasn't surprised that this place also charged extra. We had a great time and will...
Read moreWe visited here yesterday with a 5 year old and a 3 year old.
Pros: The cost to get in is reasonable in my opinion. 3 and under are free. There is actually a lot to keep kids of these ages, and a bit older pretty busy. The staff is friendly and helpful. Things are fairly close together so bringing a young kid isnât difficult at a place like this. Friendly animals to feed. Many hands on activities for kids of all ages.
Cons: As another review stated, the food isnât good and itâs an extremely long wait, we were quoted 35 minutes to wait for a funnel cake, so we passed on that. The small selection of food options dwindled throughout the day (due to lack of prep for the amount of people who came, Iâm assuming). So, as others have mentioned, bring your own food. The pony ride was an additional $8 which is a bit steep for how short the ride is and how long the wait was. But, my 3 year old was happy and thatâs all that mattered to me! This is not a U-pick patch or even a field of growing pumpkins in sight. They have a fenced off section with a small pumpkin selection. The pumpkin selection was poor (many were soft) and the prices were steep considering. This could have a lot to do with the recent freeze- Iâd assume the unexpected cold front damaged a lot of pumpkin crops.
All in all: Mission accomplished.. the kids were beat and had smiles on their faces. So if youâre nearby and looking for a fun fall day trip, Iâd recommend. If youâre looking for a u-pick pumpkin patch, this is...
Read moreDon't spend your money on this place. If you are a family of 4 you start of by paying $48. Then if you want a pony ride it's another $8, add on face painting another $5. And oh by the way entry does not get you a pumpkin. That's another $8, 10, or 12. Yes there are some fun things for smaller children, but those things are tailored to smaller children. If you are an adult there's really nothing to do except enjoy your children. Laser tag was a joke. Most things things were cheaply assembled. Getting food was confusing and then you had to wait. Had to wait in one line for a food ticket then another line to get your food. Porta potties were dirty and full. Bring lots of hand sanitizer or wipes with you. Not much seating here and for some odd reason they had a reserved sign for two empty tables. But don't worry you don't want to sit anyway cause the table were never cleaned and filthy. Overall it can be a fun place for smaller children, your teens will think its lame, and adults, well at least you can watch smaller children have fun. There are better and cheaper options. Most disappointing pumpkin place of any kind that I...
