Let me save you some time and money: UC Davis was not worth it. After 10 years and over $58,000 sunk into that so-called “world-class” education, what do I have to show for it? Stress, student debt, and a degree that no one cares about unless you already have connections.
You think you’re joining a top-tier academic environment, but you’re actually walking into a snake pit of performative intellectualism, bloated egos, and hollow prestige. Professors don’t teach—they publish. Advisors don’t advise—they dodge emails. The system is built to reward the top 5% and ignore everyone else. If you’re not born into a network, you’re invisible.
And the students? Let’s be honest: it’s not a hub of brilliance. A lot of them are just coasting on the name, following checklists, and pretending they’re future CEOs while relying on group projects they barely contribute to. The UC name doesn’t make you smart. It makes you pay—for branding, for bureaucracy, for an outdated idea of success.
Meanwhile, Cañada College—a small, honest, community college in the Bay Area—delivered more real education, more support, and more opportunity than UC Davis ever did. I spent a fraction of the cost, got direct access to professors who actually knew how to teach, and found real career pathways that didn’t require selling my soul or taking on crushing debt.
At Cañada, I wasn’t lost in a crowd of 30,000. I wasn’t just another number in a lecture hall. I was taught by people who cared, guided by advisors who knew my name, and supported every step of the way. The ROI? Off the charts—because I walked away with skills, clarity, and zero debt.
If I could go back, I wouldn’t waste a second on UC Davis. It was an overpriced illusion that delivered nothing. Cañada College was the real thing—affordable, practical, and powerful.
UC Davis students and grads can keep pretending it’s worth it. But if your degree costs you $58,000+ and still doesn’t guarantee a job or direction in life… maybe it’s not the smart...
Read moreI am writing to express my deep frustration with Canada College, based on an experience that started in 2018. Despite my commitment as a student, I encountered a bewildering administrative issue that has persisted for years.
In 2018, I was surprisingly and mistakenly academically suspended over a class I never registered for. This suspension significantly disrupted my academic progress. After years of effort, the suspension was finally lifted, and I successfully completed the course with a 90% grade.
However, the complications didn't end there. Despite my high score in the class, I was informed that my GPA was still considered too low to re-register for the 2024 semester. This decision seemed to disregard my recent academic achievement.
Moreover, the wrongful suspension has left a 'W' mark on my academic record, which has been challenging to rectify. In my interactions with the administration, particularly with Edith Flores, I found the response to be extremely rude and condescending. A woman like this should be scrubbing toilets. Her attitude added to my frustration and disappointment with the institution.
This prolonged struggle over the past six years has been incredibly stressful and disheartening. It's a situation that no student should have to endure. I hope that by sharing my experience, Canada College will address these administrative challenges to prevent future students from facing similar difficulties.
Including specific details about interactions can be helpful, but remember to keep the language respectful to ensure your feedback is...
Read moreWhen I moved to California and decided to return to school i thought i had hit the jackpot with this CC. I was excited to find a school that was prioritizing safety and convienence when i was promised an entierly online expirience and i was excited to be studying in a program that claimed to be taught by leaders in my field. I was however horrendously disappointed. I can only speak for the program i am in but i will be finishing my AA in "Digital art and Animation" in May and if i knew now what i knew then i would never have sent that application in. At every opporitunity i have been lied to and had to seek repeated assistance to be given the commitments that were promised to me. The entire last year i have had to FIGHT to get online classes even though i was promised an online degree. I have had at most two classes where i have actually learned skills relevant to digital painting and animation otherwise the classes can best be described as graphic arts courses and even those were less comprehensive than the courses i took in highschool 10 years ago. Some deeply unprofessional professors and having to constantly be diligent to guard from dishonest commitments and last minutes attempts at trickery have made me very dissatisfied with my expirience here. I am giving three stars because i can only speak for the program i am in. You definitely get what you pay for though and if you need a cheap school and you have a LOT of excess patience this school is a great option for you. Otherwise there are much better options in the area that are far...
