My sister and I (two Black women) visited Cavender's on 7/8/25 to get some things for our outfits for Beyonce's concert on Friday night. We had both planned to get hats and a pair of boots each, and possibly a few other accessories. When we walked in there was a young guy that greeted us, and we headed over to the women's section. We were later approached by a young blond woman asking if we needed help. We asked a couple of questions, which she answered, and we thought everything was fine.
We weren't loud, rude, or disrespectful at any point while in the store. We brought socks to try on the boots with, and we put each pair back where we found them to avoid making a mess that someone else would have to clean up. As we were making our final selections (we had each found a pair of boots we loved), we noticed that the same young woman was making a big show of walking around and laughing while spraying the areas we had been in with some kind of air freshener. Another young woman (reddish-brown looking hair) came to see what was going on, and then they both proceeded to laugh and continue walking around to spray the exact areas and aisles we had been in. Neither of us stunk or were wearing dirty clothes, and neither of us had been rude to her or anyone else or disrespectful of the merchandise, yet her heavily spraying air freshener right where we were and had previously been seemed directed specifically at us.
That made us angry enough to put back the pairs of boots we had planned to purchase and just leave. We felt her actions showed very obvious racism and we refuse to spend money at establishments that are ok with treating respectful, paying customers that way. We ended up driving an hour to Laredo Western Wear on Buford Hwy and had a MUCH better experience. We found everything we needed, spent about $400, and we're happy to spend that money at a store that welcomed us and where the staff were friendly and helpful. It's amazing to me that in 2025 these folks will STILL allow their hatred to cause them...
Read moreAwesome experience! For my birthday my husband surprised me with a trip to Horsetown for a new purse. Unfortunately, I had a broken leg and could not put weight on the injury. My husband went into the store and a wonderful associate assisted him with picking choices I would like. He explained to her that I love bling, something very different from what everyone else has, oversized, with numerous pockets and my favorite colors are pink /purple. They found 2 and the associate actually brought them to the car for me to give my inspect. Both were beautiful, but my favorite is leather with cow hair colored in a gold, silver tint and actually had a purple lining with 3 large pockets on the inside and 4 other smaller pockets. I've never seen anything like it and the actual price was almost $200 under suggested retail. The purse also came with a purple bag for storing the purse and an extra purple bag to use as you choose. I'm in love with the bag. My last purse, snake skin also came from there at a wonderful price and it was my only bag for a least 4 years and was just starting to show wear, only along the handles, the snake skin still looks awesome. 5 years ago my husband bought me a pair of cowgirl boots from there which were my first authentic boots and even though I wore them all the time before my foot injury they still look brand new and I get at least 2 compliments every time I wear them. They were an awesome price, again under retail and the associates are always helpful, but none more than the wonderful woman that helped my husband on August 25th of this year. To actually walk the purses to the car and discuss each with me fully. What a wonderful addition to an unusually warm and caring company. Kudos to Horsetown Marietta for your kindness and your customer service. Pictures of my perfect...
Read moreI have been purchasing from Horsetown for years! In fact my first pair of boots as a child came from this store and location! My entire family requents this store and we have always been greeted with a smile. Today however was not that way. I was told a year ago after making multiple purchases that if I needed to bring any of the items back there would be NO ISSUES as long as nothing purchased was worn. I came in today to exchange a pair of jeans that I purchased last year. The entire interaction was not handled in a professional mannor AT ALL! I spoke with Carolyn and she was very unpleasant. She had a sharp attitude and pointed at a sign on the back of the front door. Explaining that because I told her I purchased them a year ago there was nothing she could do. She was VERY curt and RUDE! I explained that I do not live in the area so it’s not that easy for me to make a trip down this way and that I just wanted to exchange them. She never asked if I wanted to speak to a manager nor did she shrug off her smirk. I took my jeans and walked towards the back of the store trying to take in what just happened. I was very upset but was in hopes someone may have heard the interaction and would come and speak with me. Instead she had two people follow and watch me as I tried on jackets. (No they were not salesmen. I’ve been there long enough to know how and what they say when there around) As if I were to take something? I have NEVER written a bad review on any place of buisness and I have NEVER been treated this way in a store. Needless to say I will not be going back anytime soon! I am incredibly disappointed because Horsetown has been a staple for years...
