Singing Horse Trading Post — Local services in Wounded Knee District

Amazing experience all around! It was just us two with Rosie and it was a horseback ride like I’ve never had before. Beautiful, expansive landscape, interesting (and easy!) terrain, and gorgeous, intelligent horses. Rosie was an amazing, patient, and knowledgeable guide. This wasn’t like those horseback rides where they just walk in a line on a defined trail. This was a dynamic and exciting experience where you could really see the horses come to life.

Amazing drive through the reservation! Strongly recommend for any other fellow out-of-towners looking for a real South Dakota experience.

Rosie welcomed us to her ranch that is in the heartland of the Lakota Pine Ridge reservation. Every morning my daughter and I went horseback riding and even did a full day trek through the tribal lands that we will never forget. Her horses are well trained and she took her time to help us feel at ease with our horses and understand them. She has a keen understanding herself and is an excellent teacher. Our cabins were adorable and had everything we needed. The trading post is a fascinating store where locals come in to sell their artwork and crafts and is a real hub of encounters. This is an essential stop for any out-of-state travelers looking for horseback trail riding and local indigenous art. Singing Horse Trading Post is on the Pine Ridge Lakota Reservation and the drive there is beautiful!

We had an absolutely incredible time horseback riding with Rosie. She is experienced, knowledgeable, and so, so kind! Rosie was accommodating and chatted with us about the culture/history of the Lakota people and the wonderful horses while we rode. We hope to visit again someday.
