Reviewing this place is bittersweet... the bitter is I know more people will go with my positive review. The sweet is they deserve all of the attention and praise for what they do and how well they do it (I can only speak toward the sales side).
I visited them because someone posted a shelving unit they had on FB marketplace. I called up and offered a different price and they took it without hesitation. Literally an immediate yes - and this unit is AMAZING and is the PERFECT room divider. I had been looking for one for so long and its just so amazing for my space.
(sorry in advance if there are any name spelling mistakes - I've only heard the names not read them, and as you can tell by my name I try to be aware of that lol)
Further and more importantly, the staff is amazing. Genuinely amazing. Christina was my first impression and she was insanely kind and fun to talk to. And still is everytime I call or visit! I find often in many resale stores, especially as I stray from downtown, I face some weird looks and less than warm interactions if my tattoos or colored hair (while natural now, it won't be soon) are exposed. I don't mind because I love the way I look, but being able to be treated exactly the same as others is something I don't forget in any resale shop. There was one other woman there that first visit as well but I didn't catch her name. She was also very nice, I just didn't talk to her as much because she was up at the register only when I was there.
The next visit I met Russ and Mitchell. Both are amazing as well. When I went back to pick up the shelf I bought they were so SO helpful. Not only did they bring it to the car for us, but they strapped it in and wrapped it up so that it would get home safely. I'm so used to having to do these things myself when I buy that it just caught me by surprise and is so appreciated.
They're super careful too. I bought a lot (no, really, A LOT - almost $300 in glassware between my two visits before their 1/2 off sale discount) of glass and they wrapped it all very well so that it got home safe. And the same with my lamps from my first trip.
While unrelated to their store itself, their mission/goal is super commendable. If you haven't read their website and are instead reading my essay of a review, I'll tell you what they're around for. They help seniors make the transition/moving experience as seamless and comfortable as possible when downsizing (from what I gather usually moving with relatives, a senior living community, etc). All items from the move are brought to Pathway and consigned for the person so that they can have the extra money to live their best life and not have to stress about storing or selling them.
I personally think that's amazing and wish they were around when we had to do the same for my grandma. Reflecting on my family's experience with that (and my grandma wasn't a collector, but liked to hold onto whatever she had bought. She was very careful and tidy so all of her stored and displayed vintage treasures were in PERFECT condition - and the estate sale just didn't give what we would have hoped to pay for her memory care after). Not to give a sob story, but my grandma wasn't fully aware during this process. It all fell on my dad and aunt, and they were stressed and busy beyond belief during the time they took care of it. If I knew a place like Pathway could have helped them transition my grandma and also give them extra money to pay her living expenses I would have been so happy.
Another unrelated note, but I really love to see unused buildings repurposed. They converted a church into this business and that's amazing to me (I'm biased too - while not religious I really admire church architecture and seeing them converted when not in use makes me extra happy).
I'm out of characters. Just go visit them. It's more than...
Read morePathway is an amazing group of people and I cannot overstate how happy we are with their service. From our initial impression with Jeanne when she came to my mom’s house for the consultation to the amazing communication and wonderful staff, we just couldn't have been happier. These people are kind, respectful, patient, personable and so very helpful! We are so thankful that they were recommended to us. They exceeded every expectation! Thankful shout-outs to Trevor, Tyler, Jaden, Dane, Ben, Margie & Mary—we are so thankful for your amazing, caring service and hard work! Also, huge thanks to Kelly, our office contact person. We never wondered what was going on because she kept us so well-informed. It’s a huge undertaking to move our much-loved elderlies into their new homes and make them feel that their choices are respected and this group of wonderful individuals made it so much smoother and easier than it might have been. Very reasonable pricing and so flexible with timing. Whatever worked for us worked for them. Thank you, thank you, Pathway! I will sing your praises to anyone moving their senior loved ones. You...
Read moreWe were referred to Pathway Senior Movers and are so happy we used them! They are AMAZING! They did a total clean out of my loved one's home in Traverse City as we were preparing to sell it. They also moved some items from the home to my loved one's new apartment at a senior living community in Grand Rapids. Their crew was personable, hard working and trust worthy. A great group of guys! Jeanne is top notch, professional and put us at ease as we dealt with cleaning out a house that had been lived in for 40 plus years. The concept of them bringing the items to their warehouse for consignment worked out much better for us than having an actual estate sale in our loved one's home. We could get the home on the real estate much quicker this way. We would highly recommend Pathway Senior Movers!! Top Notch at...
