This establishment is an absolute disgrace to what the experience of adopting an ainmal should be all about. What I'm about to write, i wish someome would have explained to me because now i live in fear of what this establishments capabilities are. Yes, you read that right , fear. So i will begin by admitting that it's apparently MY FAULT that a toy Chihuahua i previously owned over 8 years ago, was STOLEN from me from my neighborhood. And although i searched for the better part of two years. That doesn't matter in the eyes of the desk clerks, at the Camden SPCA. I'll spare the details as to what that dogs meaning to my life entailed , otherwise you would quit reading. Please , for your sake, dont stop reading. I am here to prepare you for adoption at the Camden SPCA. Step one ; Fill out the adoption form first! Otherwise, you may find the animal you wish you could call family , taken from you before you even know what happend. Step Two ; Pertaining to step one, it is important to notify in the form that you have no pets and have never had any pets , ever. I know the better parts of me feel like this is lying i am asking you to do. However, in light of the circumstance they will put you in, it is not. You do not own an SPCA pet. Shame on you, but if you do, i'm glad for you truly. You have done what my supposedly negletful nature could not. Step Three , be pro "spade and neutering" honestly it is for the better. Unless you plan to make a legitimate business of breeding , let a professional do the work. GOOD LUCK. PS: dont get your hopes up. Spca is hertless, and care not to listen to you . and care not to let you adopt in the propper mnnor, as to what brings you to them in the first place...Once the wrong word is said, you will know . Just turn and leave then, with heartbreak...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI visited about a week or so ago, and this lovely girl (Sherri) touched my ā¤ļø heart. My baby girl passed away 8/24 of this year (JudyBooty). She was 16 and 15 years ago, and I adopted her from here. I thought it would be fitting to return and be blessed š to find another fur-baby to have in my life. It's been truly hard without her, but I know she's napping and free from pain with life at the Rainbow š Bridge. My visit here at SPCA was a little different as the kitties were in a free roaming room for the visitors to see them. This was a lot better meet & greet as the cat could come to you as they please. Some cats were still in their cages sleeping however, they could come out if they wanted free pets or scratches. There was an energetic little 4 month old kitty who was into everything...LOL. However, Miss Sherri caught my eye with her lion š¦ cut. I never thought about wanting a long-haired cat, but it was her disposition. In addition, I wanted a younger cat as well as she is either 7 or 8. I've thought about her over this last week or so and have often thought if she would be a good fit for me or if I'm ready to love again. I decided to look on the website, and unfortunately, she wasn't posted. I'm not sure if she was adopted or if she just wasn't posted. I thought I would give myself a week to think about her as I wanted a certain type of kitty and what would be best for me & my home. I will go up there with an open mind. Like they say, if it's meant to be, then will. The staff here was polite and friendly. When you walk in, it doesn't smell like some of the places do. This is a Win Win š in my book and for this, this place gets a 5 š...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is the 3rd time since Covid began that we have attempted to adopt a dog through the Camden SPCA. Each time we are āgreetedā at the door by the same employee who never says anything other than ādo you have an appointmentā. The first attempt we were told we couldnāt even come inside because our dog at home wasnāt neutered. Second attempt we were literally just told NO. Today we went back with an application filled out, masks on and our dog in the car in case we needed to do a meet and greet. We were ready. I should also add that I called before we drove over to make sure we had everything needed. Again we were met with ādo you have an appointmentā. Made us wait outside to see if our application was approved. 15 minutes go by and they come out to ask for proof of rabies for our dog. We hand over the collar with the SPCA rabies tag. Another 5 minutes go by and weāre told that they specifically need a little piece of paper stating he was given the shot to be allowed in to the building even though we gave them exactly what was asked for. We wanted to adopt a dog and give it a loving home and have been trying to do so for a year now. Each time weāre met at the door with resistance and ignorance. Itās hard to want to spend money supporting this specific branch when the level of rudeness only increases with each visit. We will still be expanding our family with a new furry friend, just not from this establishment. Find somewhere who cares enough for the animals, where they want them to find a home and allow you to give them their forever home. I donāt recommend this establishment at all, even in...
