Review the Appalachian Mountains?! I will & it’s going to be long. I personally have deep roots in the Appalachian Mountains of VA & TN (mainly VA). These mountains are gorgeous & nothing beats seeing the mountains in the fall - Breathtaking. It’s important to note, if you’ve never visited Appalachia, it will be a major culture shock. Many people from different areas (even in the same state, just not these mountains) do not realize there are literal “mountain people” and they live a very different life, in many ways. Especially if you stop in a small town. Be prepared to go back in time of at the minimum a decade. Because they’re the forgotten people. They’re the people a lot of the opioid medication was tested on & told it wasn’t addictive. Because of the extreme poverty, they are targets for exploitation & manipulation by the government. The government needs to help them & stop hurting a gorgeous area that deserves respect & a lot more help. **Bottom line & my actual review is: Absolutely visit the Appalachian Mountains, but only for their intoxicating natural beauty. Do not plan a 5-7day vacation, unless you have family there. Do not judge the people who choose to live there or how they live. Staying in those mountains, on your family land that’s been passed down many generations, in is all most have & that’s their pride. As gorgeous as these mountains are, it is not a place to overstay or move to. A lot of the small towns that thrived off coal mining will soon be ghost towns. These are the mountains with the longest documented history of any mountains in America. A lot of unfortunate history, but it is history nonetheless. If you visit, just respect the beauty Appalachia gives by appreciating them, something they’ve deserved, since giving...
Read moreWe went hiking and were out at night, only to for some reason, hear someone in the middle of the forest, at night crying for help, me and my two friends went to investigate who was in trouble and to see if we could help, as we got probably 100 yards from the cry for help, the entire forest got quiet, and we were shining our light, and shouting if they could hear us and if they were OK, only to hear a cry for help again, this time it was 50yrds in the distance, and as we were scanning the area, we saw bushes rustling around, and 2 red glowing eyes.....we asked again who was out there, and again, the cry for help came from whatever those 2 glowing red eyes were .....seing that it was only 30yrds away, and we were prollly at least a mile from our vehicles, we ran as fast as we could because whatever that was, wasn't wanting our help....upon research, we are convinced skinwalkers walk the Appalachian Mountains, and honestly, we are never...
Read moreI am not sure how this place has decent reviews. Maybe it’s an off weekend ??? I don’t know but as you can see it was dirty. I asked for new sheets and I felt bad because the older gentleman —guessing the owner was by himself and he was kind but I got a dirty room. Then to add icing to the cake there was no water or power after 930pm-10pm? I checked out early as there is still no power. To his defense it was a town issue not his issue. That was out of his control so i have to be honest about that. I had my own cleaning supplies and cleaned what I could. Tables dirty and bathroom dirty. Hair in the sink. Not happy at all. Wasn’t my first choice but my first hotel messed up my reservation and I was in town for a wedding and it was all that...
