I have never imagined I would compare an airport to my home country airport (where it was not rated top 10 airport) but I will share what was bothering me here
Pros: Simple and modern airport that does it job, not too much walking and easy to understand Fast immigration process, almost no queue, and no overly strict inspection Sufficient amenities with the exception of free public drinking water and public trash cans, lots of shops and vending machines available although barely any international brands Hygienic bathroom with toilet paper and soap, plus point there is no smell at all Available real time terminal boards at all places translated in three languages (Oāzbek, Russian, and Englis) I understand that public facilities here have been impoving a lot, and I appreciate that you have an active project to generate foreigner feedback on your tourism (met one of the enumerator) but please try to be consistent (hygiene, facilities, staff availability, people flow and orientation, sufficient public information) in all major tourist spots not only airport
Cons: Bathrooms are minimals, some donāt have hanger in them I dropped my bag along with my laptop. Only one washing counter so impossible to brush teeth or wash face (itās a common thing for over night flight) Really bad people flow management, when B7 or B6 were boarding itās impossible to get out or move without cutting lines. Waiting lounge for B6 can be better. Yes, I understand the space is small but flow can be better. The flow at the front is also cramped due to layout of duty free shops. Itās not hard to imagine a kid running with luggage hitting one of the antique souvenirs Batik line (counter 6-9) only has two counters running, business counter does not facilitate for priorities (only disabled and wheelchair, no family, pregnant or elderly). Very bad escalation process, when an issue arise (machine error and visa issues) there is no one to help nor supporting staff to immediately solve the issue. This cause inefficient and very long line of queue, which is gives bad impression Priority lanes!!! Priority lane has to be consistent in check-in, immigration, and boarding. Sometimes the broadcast is in Russian only. Can you be more consistent in English? Many of the tourists do not speak Russian. Lack of power socket, this is a real pain of traveling in Central Asia. Some people wait while working. The lack of power socket makes it impossible to work with laptops. You obviously cannot solve that with rental power bank. Wifi verification SMS based only, impossible to use for foreigners. Consider enabling email authorization, itās the same principle. Fast lane for priority does not always have staff working in them, makes me wonder whatās the point of priority. General lack of breastfeeding and prayer room. The country has birth rate of 3 plus something, please be empathetic to mothers. Thatās basic facilities in most countries. Why is the price tag in duty free in euro? Does not make sense. Use your currency. All the inefficiencies and in an airport that only serves small number of flights, try to train your staff to be faster and more responsibe please. The country is starting to attract lots of international tourists. Staff service excellence will be compared to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreA worthy story and a confident look into the future. The chronicle of Uzbekistan contains many events that have determined the present day and future of the country. The creation of the Uzbekiston Havo Yollari National Airline 28 years ago marked a new era in the development of civil aviation. During this time, the Uzbekistan airways brand has become known and recognized throughout the world as a stable, safe and reliable air carrier.
On January 28, the Joint Stock Company of Uzbekistan celebrated its quarter-century anniversary. Looking back at the path traveled, one can be convinced that each year was no less fruitful than the previous one. A clear confirmation of this is the growing economic potential and image of the civil aviation of Uzbekistan.
Airlines have a lot to be proud of. Modern comfortable airliners of Uzbekistan regularly land and take off in more than 50 cities in Europe and Asia, and perform charter flights from Alaska to New Zealand. The pilots of Uzbekistan have mastered the operation of aircrafts A320, Boeing-757/767, Il-114-100, and today they fly a new generation of aircraft - the Dreamliner. Their skills and potential are well known in the world and highly appreciated by international organizations.
Uzbekistan Airways JSC was recognized as the world's best operator of Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft. Based on the results of 6 months (December 2016 - May 2017) NJSC Uzbekistan Airways showed the best result in the world among the operators of Boeing 787 Dreamliner in the trouble-free operation of dream liners, ensuring 100 percent safety and regularity of flights on this type of aircraft, for which the Boeing Corporation was awarded for the successful, accident-free operation of aircraft of this type.
Today the dream liners successfully operate flights to Dubai, Delhi, Amritsar, Istanbul, Tel Aviv, Seoul, Frankfurt, Moscow, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore, as well as through Riga to New York. On July 27 this year, for the first time in history, the National Airline "Uzbekistan Airways" carried out the first direct flight on the Dreamliner on the route Tashkent - New York - Tashkent.
Over the years, many large projects have been implemented in the industry. The ground infrastructure of the airports was modernized, the aircraft fleet was completely renewed and new aircraft were mastered. New routes have been opened, new terminals and high-capacity air terminals have been built, and advanced technologies have been introduced.
At the airports, modern mini-centers for Air Traffic Control (ATC) and a new air navigation system were put into operation. Each liner in the skies of Uzbekistan is under the constant control of highly qualified dispatchers of the Uzaeronavigation Center.
All 11 airports of the republic have the status of "international" and are provided with reliable and perfect inspection equipment. Modern passenger terminals are equipped with all the amenities and equipment that meet international standards. At the airport in the capital, the departure hall with an increased level of comfort Business Lounge āUzbekistan airwaysā is available...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreNice transit area, didn't expect much from the reviews. I had 8 hours of transit and didn't want to go outside in the town, so I went to transit area. Suppose, mostly the don't think about that people can stay in transit area more then 4 hours before flight and if it's more they go to the city...so, transit area is not big and provided with small amount of sitting area...the space looks fresh and clean, transit area separated for different halls and which one has separate security custom control...I didn't know where I need to go because it wasn't any information about my flight, they show info on tabloids before around 3 hours...so, accidentally I came to the main area. There duty free here where you can buy souvenirs if you need, which pretty much expensive but the bottle water there is cheaper than in the cafes. About cafe's, there's small area there and couple small cafes with not big choice of food also there's bar there. The BIG DISAPPOINTE is there's NO free WiFi there š±š±š± I was not nice surprised by this. I asked one guy who works in the sim store about WiFi and he said that there's no wifi there, cause the free WiFi usually simply not works, and even if it would work you're not able to connect to it because it accept only local sim card, you're not able to put in your phone number if it's not local. So, you can buy sim card if you want .....the guy kindly shared wifi with me which was available for an hour. Also there's hostel there. I didn't find how to book it before coming but there were free rooms available for booking but the range of price is interesting...like everything for airport š for 10 hours it will cost 50$ and for 2 hours is 30$...no time in between. But the stuff is kind and can do some exception for you like provide for 3 hours for same price. There's small area with charges and tables there. I spent 3 hours in area, after took 3 hours of nap in hostel and after this, I changed the hall as my flight was from another transit area. When I came to that area it was pretty much people there and close to flight no sittings places...In conclusion, I can say that it's better than I expected but not compare to most international airports. As they have a lot of international flights, it doesn't have a lot of space for transit passengers, no variety of food, NO WiFi...last one is a completely big disadvantage of the transit. But it's nice, fresh and clean with friendly stuff. Also washrooms good, fresh and clean. The rooms of hostels has one single bed and little table, they have wifi, and...
