Turon Holidays: Central Asia Tours — Local services in Tashkent

I together with a couple, recently completed “The Great Silk Road Tour to the 5 Stans” with Turon Holidays. This was a highly anticipated journey, and while there were definite highlights, some aspects significantly impacted our overall satisfaction. Starting with the positives, the guides throughout the tour were truly exceptional. They were consistently knowledgeable, engaging and incredibly friendly. We appreciated their accommodation nature, which made the daily experiences much more enjoyable. The itinerary itself was well-planned in terms of the places we were meant to visit, and the transport arrangements were acceptable, ensuring we moved between locations relative smoothly. However, the tour’s main downfall was the accommodation provided. Turon Holidays committed to providing 4-star hotels, but unfortunately, the reality was a consistent disappointment. We found ourselves in what felt like 1-3 star accommodations at best, which did not meet the promised standard or our expectations for a tour of this nature. The discrepancy significantly detracted from our comfort and overall experience, especially after long days of travel and sightseeing. Additionally, while the itinerary was well-planned, the tour operator did not strictly adhere to the sequence, which was a minor point but noticeable. More significantly, a few places of interest were arguably not worth the considerable effort of long drives on sometimes challenging, bad roads, particularly when factoring in the limited time we had and the comfort level of the accommodations awaiting us. In conclusion, the tour has immense potential, but our experience would have been far more positive if the hotels had met an acceptable, let alone the promised 4-star, standard. My strong suggestion for future travellers considering Turon Holidays for this tour would be to book your own hotels independently and consider opting out of the meal package.
