While there are some great attractions. Mainly Mt. Yasur and Blue Cave. The Island is horrible overpriced. The people are very friendly and helpful, but according to guide books one is not supposed to haggle/negotiate prices, which led to the prices being really inflated since the tourists keep paying whatever the locals asks for. It is not uncommon that tourists pay 5-10x of what locals pay for a meal. It also feels weird if you ask for a price and the person literally thinks for 10-20sec before telling you an answer, and even the advertised prices are often the "old" prices and you will end up paying more than what is written on the white board. Dinners in particular ended up between $20-$25 per plate, thats more expensive than we like to pay for a basic meal every day! (Yes, technically 2h, but the first hour you watch locals perform a lackluster dance and give you blessings to visit...
