We experienced very poor (non-existent) communication from the golf club. We tried through several means (chatbot, email and Facebook messenger) to ask about transport logistics to the golf club. Unfortunately we never received any information from the club about how to access the course. When we were dropped at the land terminal building at the wrong spot, someone tried to sell us tickets for the cable car which included f & b. We didn't think that sounded correct so then we walked further in the wrong direction until I asked a security guard who pointed us in the right direction.

After that, everything was seamless and we knew we were in the right spot when our bags were whisked from our shoulders and we were directed to the golf counter. So, for anyone reading this, the golf counter is at the far south/right hand end of the building.

We were looked after very well and didn't have to touch our golf bags again until we were back at the land terminal after golf.

Three other annoyances are that you have to pay for a bucket of balls before you tee off, 120,000VND - not cheap! (I've never been expected to pay before - this should be included with your green fee) and there was no separate ladies' locker room, so I couldn't use the lockers and had to change my shoes at the golf cart then back at the land terminal. It was also hugely disappointing that carts weren't allowed on the fairways even though the course wasn't wet and carts wouldn't have damaged the course at all. This made for a very tiring round in the heat and rainy season humidity. I slept for 15 hours after the round and was dehydrated and I think I also had a touch of sunstroke.

I found my caddy Ly Ly surprisingly good, I was told to not expect much in Vietnam but she did show good course knowledge especially around the greens. Do take your range finder though.

The course itself is OK. It has a good layout but it isn't particularly pretty apart from the bougainvilleas around it. Glad we did it, but...

We arrived via cable cart. There was no cart waiting to take us to the course as their website states. After asking several staff who had no clue there even was a golf course, we were finally told to go up the escalators. Security wouldn’t let us through because we weren’t staying at the resort. Two arguments and one manager later we were let through but not told where to go. We waited at the bus stop under the “Vinpearl golf” section. Nobody came. We went over to the hotel and a worker picked us up and took us to the course. 1 hr 30 minutes after arriving at the cable cart, after carrying our clubs about 1km in total, (between a snake line to get on the cable cart that can’t be skipped even if nobody is waiting and walking to the hotel, we finally arrived at the course.

We weren’t told the greens had been cored before our round, not even by reception on check in, and the tenth hole is basically unplayable.

Course marshall wouldn’t let a group of two golfers through a group of 4 beginners taking sometimes over 20 minutes to complete a hole.

To top the experience off, the showers were absolutely filthy and all of them smelt like urine. I’m guessing they haven’t been cleaned in months. Sat at the empty restaurant for five minutes before having to ask for a menu. At that stage we were just over the entire thing and left. Dropped at hotel again and had to walk our clubs back to the cable cart ourselves.

if you’re not staying on the island forget it, you’ll be treated like a criminal at best. This was BY FAR, the worst golfing experience i’ve had in all of Asia.

Seems like they have spent all of their budget on maintaining the course, the rest of the experience (except for the caddies who were always smiling) was absolutely awful. Not sure if it was because we weren’t Korean or hotel guests, but felt like I was being punk’d at every opportunity only to find no cameras afterward, just blank stares from staff.

We won’t ever be returning to any Vinpearl...

I wanted to play 9 holes and asked in advance, if its possible to bring my girlfriend along and if there would be any extra charges. They said it would be no problem at all and there will not be any extra charges. As we arrived today, they wanted to charge me extra, because I would have been playing alone so I would have had to pay the buggy all by myself (extra 400'000) , because there was not anybody else in my flight. The day before they did not mention anything about that and it is hard for me to understand why I need to pay, if they do not come up with more players. Also If my girlfriend wanted to come along, she would have had to pay 400'000 even if she was not playing! That is not all, the receptionist was very unpleasant at all, I would say even impertinent. I tried to talk to the manager, but her english was so bad that it was really hard for me to understand her and I am still not 100% sure what she was saying. In general the english level of all the employees is not at a sufficient level that you would expect on a golf course. It was really hard to communicate with them. The manager was not understanding at all and gave me some ridiculous option. We did not feel treated fairly. They were looking at us as their next profit and just wanted to get as much money as possible. In the end we decided to go back to the hotel. At this point I would like to mention the caddys , they did a great job when we played there two days before and their english was way better than the one of the manager. I am sorry if they get...
