The resort itself is OK but we had a really bad experience with its staff members and the tour that they had on offer (sand dunes sunrise tour). When we arrived at the sand dunes we were pushed into spending 1,000,000 dong on the quad bikes. The guy said the walk to the sunrise spot was about 5km and it was actually 10 mins walk (tourist trap). When we came back to the station we couldnt find the tour guide, we were just turning in circles trying to find him and his jeep. After a while everyone left, we felt very lost, with no signal to call the resort. We finally found a tour guide who spoke enough english and who had the decency to help us find our tour guide. He tried to call a few people, but to no success. Finally he dropped us off as close as possible could to our resort which was a 30min walk away (under the scorching sun). We were very disappointed by the whole experience. But this isn't the worst bit. On check out the hostel tried to charge us for this tour that WE DID NOT GO ON!!! We argued that you cannot charge for a tour that lost its customers so early on, with so much negligence, and that caused so much stress!!! The manager told us that we should have taken a picture of the jeep in the morning in case this happened (NO ONE at the hostel told us to do this). She tried to do us a favour by reducing the price of this tour THAT WE DID NOT GO ON but said that we had to pay at least for petrol which apparently cost 350,000 dong (this is stupidly expensive petrol for a 20mimn ride). We were FORCED to pay as she held our passports and we had a bus to catch. As there was no atm machine, we had to make the payment by credit card and for some reason this took a good 15 mins before the payment was processed. We kept reminding her that the bus would arrive any minute now and that we needed to go. We offered her our credit card details so that she could charge us in her own time but she didn't care and kept reminding us that this was company policy. I am sorry but if you are manager you have the power to overrule those policies. Her attitude was unproffesional. After telling her that this delay is going to ruin the trip she said that 5min delay shoudnt ruin a trip, when in fact a 5 min delay CAN and DID ruin this part of trip. She also said that we could grab a taxi if we missed the bus, failing to understand that a taxi is more than quadruple the price of the bus and not an expense we were prepared to pay, espacially after paying for the most negligent tour ever. The inevatible happened and we missed our bus. We had to pay a stupid amount for the taxi. We have a bad taste in the mouth when we think of Mui Ne now. We left bitter and angry. I do not understand how a resort can have this type of...
Read moreI really wanted to love this place, but I just didn’t. We booked on a Friday, which is apparently a “special deal” day, where you can rent a tent for two dollars, however, this deal does NOT extend to the rest of the days. When I asked about this, I was assured that the deal did run for the next few days, but when we checked out we found that it was actually nine dollars a night. This is still plenty cheap, but I don’t think it was worth the nine dollars. The tents are mediocre at best, get extremely hot, and often have holes in them. One night, we found that our tent’s zippers wouldn’t work and when I asked if we could be moved or if they could fix it, I was told it was too late (it was 8pm). So, we had to sleep in an open air tent infested with mosquitos. Also, the tents are horribly uncomfortable as the pads are virtually nonexistent. The food was extremely average, and you can find much tastier and cheaper food up the street about 10 minutes. The cocktails are terrible, they don’t taste good and they don’t have much alcohol in them. Most of the Vietnamese staff are not very friendly, but the “western” staff is friendly (but they should always have someone at the front desk to avoid confusion). The internet is terrible, so if you are a freelance worker you will not be able to access the internet. Its very far from anything, and isn’t terribly convenient. The dune tour is okay, but you will be expected to rent an ATV, and if you don’t, the tour guide will be visibly upset. The beach is somewhat clean right in front of the resort, but to the left or right is filthy (we saw rotting dogs, rats, and a ton of rubbish). Staff walks two dogs along the beach, and when they pooped right in front of the lounge chairs they just left the poop there (and I later saw someone step in it). I guess I was disappointed because this place advertises themselves as a great campground resort, but it was just extremely average. I...
Read moreI wouldn't stay here again. It was okay, the air-con was good and the menu was varied, and they had different activities each day if you want to socialise. Right on the beach. But we booked a terrible tour through the hostel but when we voiced our concerns we were made to discuss the issue with the tour guide present (they scammed us for more money), but only got the offer of a 'free beer' from the hostel - which I suppose is better than nothing. Towel and one days worth of toiletries supplied. No soap at the sink by the toilets. The bathroom wasn't cleaned until I asked if it could be (because the toilet paper was building up in the bin and really smelt!) and two people were checked in whose beds hadn't been made up since the last people yet. Two more people were checked in in the middle of the night and the staff turned all the lights on, talked really loudly - there also seemed to be a problem with this check in, they had booked a private room, but the staff overnight didn't speak English much and said the room they booked wasn't ready so they have to stay in the dorm tonight - don't know if the issue was resolved the next day but the whole conversation was had in the dorm room in the middle of the night whilst we were all trying to sleep. There was a very obvious divide between the western and Vietnamese staff which felt uncomfortable, unfortunately. We were told on check in that we may hear karaoke in the conference area on the resort. But weren't quite prepared for the insanely loud bass that would be played. I had a bad headache and went to bed but for over an hour heavy bass music was played unbelievably loud, I could feel it strongly vibrating my bed from the dorm room. The event went on loudly (but not heavy bass) until about 9:30/10pm, which was a relief but not the best if you're hoping for a relaxing stay.
Sadly it was quite a stressful stay as the place generally felt very...
